You can get that effect if the mixer, connection, or system overloads before Audacity touches the sound. The extreme example of that is connecting a mixer to the Mic-In of a laptop. The sound is massively overloading and bleeding on the floor, but no clip lights.

Re: EXPORT MULTIPLE ISSUES
It doesn't give you the sound between the labels? Did you put a label at the beginning?
Does your track start at the beginning of the timeline?
Did you put punctuation marks or non-ISO dates in the labels? Today is 2016-09-22, not 9/22/16.

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
I'm doing this on a 2011 series MacBook Pro I bought in 2012. The Air is six months old, but my impression is they haven't changed anything about it since It was designed. It has a poorer display than the MBP, but weighs a fraction.

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
This would be perfect. Which this? I said two different things. If you leave Audacity running and close your lid with the order I posted, I expect that to work. I can try that on my more modern Air and see how it goes. I did notice my USB light flashes twice, not just once. I suspect the first one ...

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
Correct. I intentionally never closed Audacity, just put it to "sleep" with the rest of the machine at lid close. In that sequence, Audacity doesn't "become conscious" again until after the Mac has become aware of the microphone. Only we know that there was an interval where the ...

If you do get an error panel, you can capture it. Shift-Command-4 will allow you to draw a box around the message and capture it as a picture. Then send the picture to us. Scroll down from a forum text window > Upload attachment > Browse. This is a good time to play obsessive. Tell us exactly what h...

headsets are rubbish Gamer headsets are rubbish. Mine is trash. Also see noise cancelling aircraft microphones. This is an entertainment quality microphone bought and installed originally for a presentation similar to a TED talk or a show such as the Apple Conference or DefCon Hacker show. You know...
