Re: Noise reduction tutorial

I can hear some background noise It depends on what the background noise is. Noise Reduction only works on constant noises such as air conditioning, computer fan noises or microphone hiss. If you have keyboard clicking, traffic sounds, wind noise, conversations or "TV next door" sounds, y...

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?

This seems to be a MB Air problem. I can try this dance with a full-on MBP-15". I think 2012-ish vintage. That's how I did the original tests. That's how I would be recording a show. Not on the MBA. It has the optical drive and all the ports. You can't buy those any more.... And just a side no...

Re: Blank audio when uploaded for podcast

Is this what you are saying I should look for to make sure the audio will still be heard if someone is listening in mono ? No. That's perfectly normal in a stereo show. For example, in an orchestra, the violins will be predominantly on the left, less on the right. So during a violin passage, those ...

Re: error message when trying to record from cassette

Soundflower is only needed when you want to run Play and Record on the same show at the same time, for example, recording a YouTube show. You don't have to install that to record a tape.

I need to post back when I can get to a larger computer. Someone else may jump in.

Re: Blank audio when uploaded for podcast

If you know, from the extreme zoom method that the left and right sides are out of step with each other, that can be fixed. Split Stereo Track (but leave them left and right). Select the bottom track by clicking just above MUTE. Effect > Invert. Then Make Stereo Track (from the top track). That's it...

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?

other audio recorder I'm not sure what you're asking. I have an Olympus WS-823 personal stereo recorder. More than one, actually. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ClipMount-PersonalRecorder2.jpg I have a Zoom H4. I carry an 8GB USB thumb drive that also happens to be a mono sound recorder. Koz

Re: Blank audio when uploaded for podcast

Go back and download one of those YouTube segments and open it up in Audacity cold before you do anything to it. Magnify the blue waves like crazy so you can get down to the individual sample dots. Are they the same or opposite? If it's a good stereo show, the waves will not be the same, but they sh...
