Re: Restore audio track from original back up after applying noise gate effect
re-import the original audio If you didn't close Audacity, you should be able to Edit > UNDO back to the original work. If you did close Audacity, it cleans out all the production caches and memory, and you're stuck. Open your edit and then pull down the interview. The imported audio should appear ...

Re: Low level hum in background of recordings
I am a total amateur Not if you're getting compensated for the voice work. Then you're a subtotal amateur. The G-Track has provision to plug the headphones into its back and listen to your voice performance in real time. Switch Direct to ON and advance the volume—the third volume control on the fro...

Re: Low level hum in background of recordings
It counts if you can make it worse. That won't do you any immediate good, but it will tell us more about the problem. Nobody wrote it can't be a monitoring problem. Are you on wireless headphones or earphones? Wireless means you can't live monitor yourself for real time quality control. Wireless als...

Re: ACX Check Plugin for Windows 10
DB measurements seem to be "upside down," but they're actually sizes of negative numbers. More negative is quieter. I drew a quick reference graphic. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=384351#p384351 Home readers never pass noise. Nobody's home background noise is a thousand ti...

Re: Low level hum in background of recordings
Ok, so I'll turn off the lights, record. I know you're waiting for me to trot out a magic formula for solving this, but sometimes step-by-step scut work is the answer. If you're making actual recordings, slate them. "I turned the lights off," "I'm turning my phone off," "Tu...

Re: Low level hum in background of recordings
Nowhere in the messages do you tell us why you're doing this. Are you producing training exercises for a school? Stand-alone training classes or is the goal to submit for audiobooks? Fair warning that there are two relatively new restrictions for new audiobook readers. I have to be able to buy your ...
