Re: Newbie problem! Need help bad!
I have cut a one hour demo radio aircheck in Audacity for Mac. Does it go to an actual air show? There is an interesting trap with MP3. Chances are terrific you used MP3 downloaded music. That means the music is going to sound compressed, honky or tinkly when you make the second MP3 for delivery to...

Re: Newbie problem! Need help bad!
You could have done this Silent Track thing at the beginning and not have to go through the manual re-timing (I'm guessing).

Re: Newbie problem! Need help bad!
The desperation method from right where you are is de-select all the tracks and Generate > Silence. Pick a duration longer than the whole show. When you export, select the silent track along with everything else and that track will preserve all the gaps and production timing. Silence is invisible du...

Re: Hardware compatabiliy question
These are the adapters: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Adapter-QuarterInchToRCA-650w.jpg http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo-650.jpg There is only one option to that socket with the circle and two black arrows. The older 13"MBP had one connection that you could switch between d...

Re: Hardware compatabiliy question
If you have one of the larger, older MBPs with an actual, real Line-In (on the left)... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg Then you're good to go. You can adapt the Steinburg Line-Out connections to one stereo 1/8". If Steinberg offers the option of wall-power 5v totally t...

Re: Low Pass Filter shifts forward in time
This just cries out for a DeEsser and DeClicker.Sometimes a human voice is distorted for about 20ms or more by a short, [quiet] yet unacceptable "smack".
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49#p245549
Apply DeEsser at the default settings and see if it doesn't help.

Re: Playback sounds terrible
Did you try to go into your computer settings as in that posting? It's something like right-click the speaker icon...etc etc. Your settings are different from mine.

Re: Playback sounds terrible
I'll be able to go back in and fix the sound now You can't repair the Charlie Brown, talking into a wine glass sound you already made. I said the microphone is designed for voice. That's not technically true. The microphone is just a microphone but it's plugged into computer processing that is desi...

Re: Audacity save error
You didn't save an Audacity file, you saved an Audacity Project like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP file is a program that tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder. Double click the AUP file and your show should open. The AUP and...

Re: Exported MP3's are coming up silent
If it is stereo, try mixing it down to mono with Tracks > Stereo Tracks To Mono. You can Edit > UNDO it later to get back to the original. I expect it to sound almost identical except possibly a little "flatter" and less deep. If the work suddenly vanishes or greatly reduces in volume, th...
