Re: Format Error in MP3 players

Do you have Windows set to show you filename extensions? Most Windows machines shear off the last three letters in the filename "to help you." So MyMusic.mp3 (the real filename) becomes MyMusic. Unfortunately MyMusic.m4a and MyMusic.aif also turn into MyMusic with slightly different icons....

Re: Most basic newbie question(s)...

There is a silly joke that "Simplified Mode" means "only the tools I want." Audacity had an abbreviated mode and it was constant trouble. The other thing everybody wants is complex tools with one button. "All I want is:" followed by a laundry list of insanely complicate...

Re: Most basic newbie question(s)...

You are correct. It is very highly recommended to save the original works separate from the edit in case anything goes wrong. It is a New User error to lay corrections on top of original work. The first time the computer does something wrong, the whole show is non-recoverable trash all the way back ...

No "OK" button.
Mixing OK systems with immediate action systems is to be avoided. That's bad UI.

You also need a way to abandon your changes without manually backing out.

Re: Export of 8-bit PCM 4000 Hz samples fail

Try changing the sample rate with the little window at Audacity lower left.

What is the application? 2KHz sound is not enough for clear voice.

It also pretends to lower latency for Protools, which I've never seen happen.
Did you try it on an Avid?

Re: Recording Skype and microphone

Voicermeeter has a recorder. You use Audacity for post-production processing? I haven't dug in the manual yet, but I wonder if you can record multi-channels. And at the other end, I wonder how they avoid collisions if you're trying to play music from a local app into Voicemeeter as well as all the o...

Re: Audio Block files missing. In dire need of assistance.

Oh, wait. I think I know this one. The system freezes the local files during a sync so as not to try to sync to a moving target. It's a minor inconvenience or maybe not even noticeable if you're typing a letter, but If Audacity is trying to write data files........
