Re: All recordings disappeared - is there a way to recover?

is there a way to recover such weirdly lost projects? Is there anything weird about your setup? Are you using a school's network services either to run Audacity or to save the work? Audacity doesn't like networks. It doesn't understand network switching and delays. Did you install a virus product o...

Re: Noob questions

you get back a clean digital copy What have they done with my dirt?!? This will not go well with the people who went through all this to avoid "digital artifacts." It's totally possible to create perfect sounding MP3 files, but it's a time bomb. You may not be able to make playlists or do...

Re: Audacity Freezing When Importing MP3

The gold standard is still to force Windows to show you the official filename. It's possible the file is corrupted or someone made a file with the incorrect extension. Many times INFO services just look at the extension (you can't see) and just assume it's correct. That can lead you to chase your ta...

Re: best filter for hollow sound

The more you turn your recording space into a studio, the better. Carpet, Foam, Towels, Duvets, Blankets, Moving Quilts. You're going to need that with a better microphone anyway.

Re: Live production issue SDI+AUX to HDMI

Audacity doesn't directly interface with video services. Under some conditions, Audacity will open a video file and play the audio parts, but it doesn't edit or produce video at all.

Re: A function to alter the viewable thickness of waveform

That's how waveforms work and it's the same reason correction software has trouble find clicks and pops.

You may like a different view. Switch to Spectrogram View with the drop-down menu to the left of the track. Different types of sound show up as different colors.

Re: Audacity Freezing When Importing MP3

How do you know it's an MP3 file? Windows likes to hide the full filename and this is one time that's not a good idea. Reveal Filesname Extensions. Displaying the File Extension in Windows Vista and Windows 7 Click the Start menu. ... Type "folder options" (without the quotes). ... A dialo...

Re: play guitar with computer music thru scarlett 2i2

I want to punch this idea a little. When you overdub, the computer has to manage playback of all your backing tracks absolutely perfectly and record your live performance absolutely perfectly . If anything slows down the system, you could get clicks, ticks or pops in the sound. Do Not leave Skype or...

Re: Noob questions

Probably one of the worst things to happen in this process isn't audio or data. After you get into this, you start to wonder if some of those albums are worth the work.

"I haven't listened to this album since 1983. Do I really want it in the collection?"
