Re: best filter for hollow sound
Noise Suppression may be a problem if your computer has fan noises. Sometimes the only way the microphone is presentable is with all those suppression tools running. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ACXHomeStudio.jpg That's from the ACX instruction video. That's a MacBook Pro which doesn't hav...

Re: best filter for hollow sound
Disable all sound effect Sound Effects is likely to add "Cathedral Ambience" to your work. I got stuck with that once. I couldn't understand why the machine under test wouldn't pass. Would. Not. Pass. No matter what I did. Stupid Windows. You can totally do this by listening. That wine-gl...

Re: Newbie Questions Here ...
Right. The clips. I was able to run a player to produce music for the mixer, so I just cued up my clips or kept a playlist of possibilities ready. It is juggling multiple balls, so it takes getting used to. You may not be able to use hotkeys. you will be running two different audio programs at once....

Re: Newbie Questions Here ...
listen to about a dozen different ones a week. Let's see....times two......carry the one.....that's about 20 hours a week. When do find time to watch TV? I did that, but I did it with two computers and a sound mixer. Maybe not with Audacity. You may be a Voicemeeter customer. http://vb-audio.pagesp...

Re: Loud hum while recording
I've checked to make sure that it's not the microphone itself. By doing what? The headphone jack only checks about the first 2/3 of the microphone. It's almost certain it doesn't decode the bitstream. Post a sample of the hum. Drag-select 10 seconds of stereo or 20 seconds of mono, export WAV (Micr...

Re: USB mic problem
After a system boot We can sometimes get people out of trouble by telling them to clean boot their machines. Many of them haven't been restarted since Eisenhower was president and they collect bad settings, contradictory environments and preferences. You strike a different bell. How often do you re...

Re: annoyed by neighbour
And yes, you can calibrate your microphone, but step one is compare it to a Sound Level Meter.
Radio Shack offered a digital one for a while, then they changed the model and now I don't think they offer it at all any more.

Re: remove unwanted sound?
You can experiment with deleting different parts of the wave around that point. Do Not export the work with the same filename. Audacity will destroy the original sound and you will not be able to go back if you make a mistake. Copy the original file into a thumb drive for safety. You can go complete...

Re: remove unwanted sound?
Is this close enough? There's still a little tick there, but nothing like the clank sound of the shell hitting. I drag-selected the blue waves about where I thought the sound was and pressed DEL on the keyboard. I did it more than once to get a little more of the click. Screen Shot 2016-10-16 at 16....
