Re: horrible beeping noise when recording
Neumann TLM 102 Nothing wrong with that. We can't guarantee anything, but that is likely to work, yes. It's a close cousin to ACX's Model system. I would be *very* surprised if it had USB noise problems. It's not overkill. It's close to the system I use, except I use a field sound mixer for better ...

Re: horrible beeping noise when recording
That's too simple. Something in your computer system is causing dirty USB. You could spend weeks chasing it. There is one sure-fire fix. Flynwill ripped his USB device apart and connected a clean laboratory five volt supply. That does work....Motherboard

Re: Export mono lossless with center pan?
Still in the left headphone That right there isn't right. Does the track say MONO on the left INFO panel? MONO tracks play to both left and right. There is a shortcut to what you're doing. Left menu > Split Stereo to MONO and delete the track you don't want. I know no good way to reverse the pseudo...

Re: removing audio from .MOV file
The system may not like making a new movie file with no sound channels. If I had to do this (in my head), I would open the movie in a video editor and using the sound sweetening tools, instead of sweetening, collapse the sound channels to dead silence. The Audacity example would be Control-L, Make S...

Re: Missing data block files after crash
put my laptop to sleep with Audacity still open. Not the best idea. When you get to the end of a recording, Export the work as a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit sound file as a safety measure. Do Not Edit This file. leave it in the corner of your machine or on a thumb drive. Someone will correct me, but onc...

Re: ACX check robotics and RMS
Reading it the fifth time. produces large green streaks on the recording meter when one is simply breathing inside that studio closet. You have help. Unwelcome help. A normal, flat audio recording system will not do that, but an automatic conferencing or chat system will. A presentation recorded lik...

Re: Dual inputs
I'm just reading through that again. You just want to shoot separate sound. That can be done, but it may be a little magic compared to what you're used to. You can get your computer to record the UM2, right? Plug it in, let it settle and then start Audacity and change the record device. This may loo...

Re: Dual inputs
Can I have two input sources to Audacity? No. Audacity will only support one sound device. However, it may be possible to record your UM2 in Audacity at the same time you're recording your video show on another application and smash them together in post production. Audacity will not edit video, so...

Re: ACX check robotics and RMS
How is an individual file that wants more than merely pure narration supposed to come in at 170 MB or under? It doesn't matter what the content is. I just created a one-hour mono show suitable for testing. I exported it at 192 quality MP3 and it gave me an 86MB sound file, generously under the 170M...

No, I mean tell Audacity to create sound files at 48000. Audacity defaults to 44100.
