Re: Audacity Never Starts - Stuck at Splash Screen
The log system is part of the Help Menu. Anything in here? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/help_menu.html Item #6 Show Log. Also: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=64428 That's for Macs, but it turns out there are add-on effects packages Audacity doesn't much like. Are you br...

Re: De-ess effect help
The words don't make a lot of difference. Read the side of the breakfast cereal box. Include a bunch of "SS" words. "Sister Suzy simulates several salacious symptoms. Kellogs Corn Flakes provides growing bodies all the nutrients......" My other joke about this is to read the side...

Re: Audacity Never Starts - Stuck at Splash Screen
I'm technically savvy That opens the possibilities. How might your Win7 differ from a plain Windows 7 a non-savvy user might have? Do you have network connected drives? Are you trying to run Audacity from one? Do you have live, network-connected storage? It's possible in some systems to have stiff ...

Re: De-ess effect help
It sounds overprocessed from the first second. Honky with echoes. What are you using for a microphone and how are you recording the voice? Did you use Noise Reduction? both Noise Reduction and MP3 produce sound errors that make each other worse. Wine Glass Voice. Some effects can make it hard to use...

Re: "Couldn't find the project data folder" easy fix not wor
Yes, if you're experiencing routine crashes or breaking your show files, that's worth investigating. Computers don't normally do that. And by "unstable", I don't mean likely to trash your show with no notice. I mean manually patching your AUP file is ticklish. -- You should know you need t...

Re: ACX check robotics and RMS
I'm not joshing. Attached the built-in microphone of a 13" MacBook Air sitting on a desk in my quiet third bedroom. The first is the raw clip and the second is gentle noise reduction, careful compression and volume set. Screen Shot 2016-10-27 at 10.25.26 PM.png I don't necessarily recommend thi...

Re: ACX check robotics and RMS
That silent portion is harder than you think. Obviously, we can hear you breathing, so hold your breath. Not so obviously, we can also hear you scratching your head, shifting in your seat and shuffling papers. Boost the volume of your silent section temporarily and listen for human noises. The goal ...

Re: "Couldn't find the project data folder" easy fix not wor
Those are different. You changed the Windows filenames in an effort to create backups. He most likely changed the computer coding inside the AUP file to force it to look for your new changed filenames. That process is perfectly valid but brittle, so only those with golden fingers should attempt it. ...

Re: ACX check robotics and RMS
what you mean by standalone test? A raw file that I narrate? Yes. As it says in the document, hold your breath for two seconds, announce for about 18. Stop, export as a mono WAV and post it on the forum. That's a grand first step to figuring out what's gone wrong. just breathing sends the green rec...
