Re: Wish to record speaker output, not microphone

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html That's the Audacity Manual entry for Windows self-recording. If it doesn't mention it, one of the problems you may have is the capture recording may depend on the speaker volume. Comfortable listening and good re...

Re: Webcam Mic supersedes my good one

It switches by itself. It switches according to what Skype wants. Skype became the most reliable and respected communications program on earth by being vicious and brutal about getting its way. We recommend using a Skype-compliant program to record your works instead of trying to use Audacity. In a...

Re: De-ess effect help

So do you think the Sample 2 recording was better, but how? The presenter was getting into the spirit of the thing and the quality was much more relaxed and natural. That and misusing some of the effects and corrections can make Essing worse. That clip appears to me slightly crisp but not sharp and...

Re: De-ess effect help

Also, should I always be recording in mono? I thought stereo was better, but I'm honestly not sure why. You can do whichever you want. The quality of performance does not change. But there may be other considerations. I record in stereo and present stereo sound files to the video editors on the thi...

Re: Mixing/editing vocals?

The compressors and limiters go through a lot of work to make sure they don't add any more distortion than needed. Leveler, however, doesn't care. Try adding Leveler multiple passes at maximum setting.

Re: Mixing/editing vocals?

That's a joke. Somebody posts heavy metal with its 99% distortion guitars and complains in the post of excessive distortion. How would you know? I only heard the voice at the beginning and then it faded out. Was it supposed to be there for the whole clip? Do you have the voice on is own track with n...

Re: De-ess effect help

Adrianna-1 is interesting. It has a lot of tiny problems, but I can make it into a good clear clip with a tweak here and there. But it, too has something wrong with the end. Do you hear that little "poop" at 18.1? It would be good to have a little more silence as well. You can post 20 seco...

Re: De-ess effect help

Soooo close. Much better believe it or not, much more natural. But you violated the silence portion. We need good Room Tone to set Noise Reduction. " She's super excited to see the stage " and it sounds like you rearranged all your jacket pockets and started to take your pants off. Go list...

Re: Multitrack Recording

I think this is the most important store note. M-Audio Fast Track Ultra (No Longer Available) Included power supply required for full 8 x 8 operation You don't get multi-channel operation with USB power. Are you using the wall power supply? Full ASIO 2.0, WDM, MME, and Core Audio support Is ASIO req...

This is the clip somebody posts with the complaint that there's distortion in the instrumental part.
