Re: low recording volume

We can't do anything with generic, fuzzy words. Which microphone and which interface. Part numbers or web links. Pretend we're shopping for your system.

Re: Exported MP3 file is removing vocals on PA system

Oddly, this isn't unusual. The PA system is using a mono mix of the show and all the other methods of listening are in stereo. Somehow, you managed to produce the vocal part of the show out of phase between the left and right portions. As long as you never mix left and right together, the show will ...

Re: Koz's Short Story

Right then. This is cut down from a much longer piece. No filters or effects and it will not pass ACX. Note the street noise at around 18 seconds in addition to the clock. Oddly, ACX-Check process may fail because the clock only appears once a second and ACX-Check only needs a half-second of room to...

Re: Unable to use space bar.

Seems to old trick of turning off and booting up again, worked!
Until another application needs the spacebar.
Don't know what the R key is.
It's the natural Audacity Record hotkey. Shift-R is Append Record for adding more work to an existing stopped track.

Re: Koz's Short Story

Except the the delivery is a bit flat. No doubt caused by my clinical, debilitating mic-fright. Actually, that can get you into trouble. People into theatrical expression post for solutions to their wildly gyrating volume levels. The thing that got my attention was not the one gross fluff and edit ...

Re: Unable to use space bar.

What have you got against pressing the "R" key? Hot key assignment and management is always a problem. You can't always make the key "stick" to the application when focus is somewhere else, and Spacebar is prime real estate. Remember the fuss when YouTube stopped using Spacebar f...

Re: DIgitech RP360XP USB

the recording automatically stops at about two minutes in the track.
What does it do? Screen freezes? Audacity crashes from the desktop? Audacity keeps recording nothing?

Re: horizontal scrolling by half of window side

I found when I'm performing, it's good to have the waveforms follow me through the show, but when editing or post production, I stop auto scrolling. I use Zoom to keep my point of interest visible and change perspective when needed. I believe the upcoming Audacity 2.1.3 has a fixed playhead feature....

Re: amlifying the entire track

Do you know about these corrections in real time? Like, do you know you are fluffing or mispronouncing a word as you do it, or you only find the mistake when you play back the track 20 minutes later? If you're doing it in real time, you're much more likely to get the volumes and vocal quality right....

Re: Help needed - slight ghosting on finished product

does that essentially mean erase it and record Not always. It is unfortunate if your natural presentation includes high, needle-like peaks in the blue waves, but that's not deadly. That can respond to Effect > Limiter whose job it is to squash those peaks in preference to the overall volume. I don'...
