Re: Exported MP3 file is removing vocals on PA system

OK, that was the easy, low-hanging fruit. Now it's harder. Describe exactly what you're doing. Where is the music coming from and how, exactly, are you recording your voice? Model numbers or web pages. Pretend I want to buy the same stuff you have. I lost the voice track when I did the export. It's ...

Re: low recording volume

Audacity sound meter and blue waves should look close to this during recording. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg You shouldn't go much louder than this because of the danger of overload and distortion. The bouncing sound meter turns orange and then red when you're to...

Re: How do I remove Reverb out of recordings?

No. Not really. What is the actual problem? Sometimes a poster will use the wrong words to describe a problem and we'll go charging off solving something that isn't broken. If you have a recording made in the back of a hall or a presentation in a kitchen like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/c...

Re: Koz's Short Story

Are you using your book/towel setup to isolate the microphone from the desk? I am not. I'm using a floor stand, boom and floppy shock mount. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AKGShockMount-500T.jpg That's not the microphone I used. That's the one I had handy for the pix. I did notice all that goin...

Re: Amplification in the last release of Audacity

I think you can get what you want with Effect > Equalization. Create an "equalizing curve" which is a straight line just above zero. It's rough to see, but there is a green straight line 6dB above 0dB in the picture. You may have to zoom your browser a little to see it. That effect will ad...

Re: Amplification in the last release of Audacity

You can get a fuzzy cousin to what you want with Effect > Normalize (attached).

That one is goal oriented. "Always put the sound peaks at -3.5dB." and the setting is sticky.

You can't define the gain it uses, though.

Re: low recording volume

The Steinberg has an output volume control on the right, but consult the instructions, that only affects the Steinberg analog output on the rear. Also note the MIX control that can get you into trouble. That fades the headphones between your live performance and the DAW or software mixer playback. T...

Re: low recording volume

Cool. Terrific equipment. Can you make the Steinberg little red overload light come on? Ignore Audacity for a minute. Turn the Steinberg volume control up and get closer and louder until you can make that light flash. That's a reference point. Almost any volume quieter than that is fair game for pro...

Re: No audio from turntable

Audacity doesn't get its sound from the turntable. It gets it from Windows. Close Audacity. By the system clock, right-click over the Speaker icon > Recording Devices Some versions of Windows have a little sound meter next to the USB Sound Device selection. Does that bounce when you play music? If t...

Re: Is there the multi-select?

I don't think Audacity will let you select two or more different sections of a show at the same time.

You can label as many different small portions of the show as you want.
