Re: Recording length
There is a setting where Audacity will only record if the performance loudness goes up. Preferences > Recording... I think. I'm not at a computer to look it up. WAV has a limit for long recordings. Are you sure it happens with MP3? You have a serious problem with diagnosing this because you have no ...

Re: Best size for recording room? And what acoustic foam to
Gray Hair? No that was not an SM58. But I was not likely to process it to death, either. Perhaps a gentle 15 KHz roll next time is indicated. It's not good to get too close to the 44100 coding limit. It's lovely that I'm entertaining dogs and bats, but maybe that's not useful. That might make lip sm...

Re: Best size for recording room? And what acoustic foam to
I'd suggest using a mic that is a bit brighter with high frequencies. There we part company. Over weeks of digging people out of trouble, it's my impression that bright, clear presentation rapidly turns into harsh, grinding, ear-piercing sibilance and Essing when you start to apply filters, effects...

Re: Audacity won't launch. Help.
Did you try not installing all your codecs? Failing to launch can be any plug-in, filter, or add-on.So I tried reinstalling all of my codecs (K-Lite 12.x).

Re: Recording streaming radio using Audacity v2.1.2
These are the manual page for Recording Streaming Audio. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html and http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html Is that the manual you read? The idea is to run the Recording ...

Re: Audacity recording meter problem
I assume that's not the robot at ACX/AudioBook. They don't have a panel of settings like that. That's ACX-Check, the home-built simulation of the ACX Quality Control Robot. The object is to do most of your testing at home, so by the time you do submit, your show should sail right through. ACX-Check ...

Re: Newbie Questions Here ...
Note: You still have to get close with your raw recording. If you like to overload your microphone or the sound channel, that's full stop. The sound will be crunchy and snappy and we can't help you. If you like recording in a noisy environment, Chris may do some interesting things depending on what ...

Re: Newbie Questions Here ...
I like increasing the Compress Ratio from 0.5 default to 0.77. I leave all the other settings alone. That produces a show with a lot of the characteristics of broadcast radio: even, regular volume so you don't have to constantly reach over and turn the volume up and down while you're driving. I comp...

Re: Sudden Problem Recording Skype
You did cold restart your computer at least once, right? You didn't say so.
If you're in Win10, Shift-restart so Windows doesn't try to retain any settings.
