Re: General help adding keyboard parts to pre-existing track
If you have tall but not jammed tall/clipping blue waves, then you are getting a good recording whether or not you can hear it. Audacity adds its own playback volume control to all the ones the computer already has. Make sure the speaker slider is all the way up. I do not use the playback systems an...

Re: General help adding keyboard parts to pre-existing track
I don't think you're recording what you think you're recording. How are you plugging the Yamaha into the Audiobox? My Yamahas do not have Stereo Line-Out (or digital sound), so I adapt the headphone output to my sound system/recorder. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo-650.jpg http://k...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX
much better luck doing it from Citrus Heights. For one thing, you'll be missing the traffic noise on Venice and La Brea. I bet you don't have Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles a block away. I guess I need your email address for that. Maybe not. All you need is an identity and password. Some a...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX
If you do post that failed chapter, it should be possible for us to give you a generic list of patches (hopefully, short) for all the chapters, assuming nothing additional happens wrong. You're on Windows. Did you go through the Windows setups to make sure there were no special effects or filters on...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX
Right then. So there's your on-line hosting company and the Paint instructions suggest there is a cropping tool. And I believe them. Our goal is to avoid shipping the whole desktop like this... PrintScreenRaw.jpg ...when all you really needed was the ACX-Check INFO panel in the middle. PrintScreenCr...

Re: No Audio With USB Headset
I don't want to have to export it to my transcription software to check it out, You may have identified one of the problems right there. Audacity doesn't "play well with others." If you have additional audio programs running on your computer, the system may have no idea where to send what...

And just to cover it. What are the tools you used and in what order? You can use one-word descriptions.

....then what?
If you make any mistakes anywhere in here, then we could be chasing something that's not broken.

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX
I'm ripping through my head to figure out how you could have gotten such a wacky result using relatively benign tools. When you read the chapter, did you leave a second or two silent? I think there is something in the ACX instructions to that effect. If you got a bad profile (Noise Reduction Step On...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX
What about compression and/or limiting? Compression can affect the sound of the performance and mess up chapter to chapter matching. Limiter less so, but limiter has its limits (so to speak), too. How about if I send you a chunk instead of the whole thing? There's no guarantee that any "volume...

Re: Audacity recording meter problem
It's official. I'm out. I'm not a Windows elf but I know you have little bombs sprinkled all over your post (that may be one reason they don't want to talk to you any more). Audacity doesn't do well with multi-channel devices or recordings (anything past two channel stereo). Audacity doesn't easily ...
