Re: Mixing final song in real time

You say that Audacity cannot do this, so would my best bet be to save each of my 5 tracks as individual wav files then mix them together in real time using a software that enables mixdowns while playing (such as N-Track)? Yes, the software of your choice. It's a very common error to press Export by...

Re: Mac Sierra - start monitoring issue

You can ignore listening or the speaker setting for a while. Recording in Audacity and listening are two completely separate jobs. Trying to troubleshoot both at once will just be confusing. So the goal is to set monitoring and watch for a bouncing sound meter. Do you get that? It's good to find out...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX

Yes, post an edit or cut performance without any effects or filters. That's more representative of what you'd be doing in an everyday process. Your results are perfectly ordinary. Low RMS (loudness), but the other numbers pass or exceed specifications. The top two numbers run in step unless you add ...

Re: Mixing final song in real time

I believe muted tracks do not contribute to the final mixdown on Export. You can MUTE as many tracks as you want. You might consider Mix and Render to a New Track and test that track for volume and overload problems. Then you can either export that one track or delete it and Export normally. If you ...

Re: Recording : Mono or Stereo

You should check if the Focusrite will allow you to record in mono. Some devices will not. I have two USB devices. One will allow me to record either Stereo or Mono. It doesn't care. The other will vanish if I choose the wrong one. Devices such as the 2i4 are not mixers. You can't assign a microphon...

Re: Please end this nightmare (ffmpeg extension problems)

There it is. Open Broadcaster Software.

You can open the list of FFMpeg supported formats and see if OBS is in there. If OBS is relatively recent (I've never heard of it) then it may not appear in the FFMpeg list.

Re: audacity and behringer guitar link

Guitar Combos runs in VST, AU and RTAS plug-in versions. Guitar Combos runs in VST, AU and RTAS plug-in versions. If it's used as a plugin, Audacity doesn't apply filters or effects in real time. You record the performance flat and apply the effect later in post production. If your goal is to overd...

Re: Speaker Test

The flac file is missing the 16 foot Bourdon pedal. Possibly 32 foot. It's hard to tell down there. This stop is most commonly found in the manuals and the pedal at 16′ pitch. In lower registers it provides foundation but does not provide much pitch definition. It is also found in the pedal division...

mp4 file with two audio files
How about one MP4 file with two audio tracks or shows? Since MP4 is a video format, what are the two different shows or tracks? Where did the MP4 come from? Are we talking about a movie and you're trying to split the stereo from the surround offerings?

Re: Squeaking noise randomly appearing in recording

...all three noises are the result of electrical interference. The 50Hz one is, but there's question about the other two. But why the randomness of it? I'm having flashbacks. In analog electronic design, you shoot for unconditional stability as well as whatever the actual goal is. Most analog desig...
