Re: New equipment issues

The requirements for AudioBooks, at least from ACX, are stiff. I would expect whatever you plug into the side of your computer to fail one of the three specifications. That connection is designed for Skype, Chat or other communications job. Not theatrical production. We have tools designed to make A...

Re: ACX Mastering

The mono ACX-Check you posted was for the whole chapter?

Do you have Chapter 1 posted somewhere we can see the WAV version? I think that's the only way I can give you whole chapter correction.

Re: ACX Mastering

You should be working in Mono rather than struggling with two-channel stereo. Everything is easier or more efficient. I got it to pass with relatively simple corrections. I made it louder and added very gentle noise reduction. ACX is very particular about having your chapters match. If you added a t...

Re: Exporting Audio Consists of Background Noise

How are you listening? You're supposed to set the playback volume for comfortable listening and then roll into the quiet segment without touching anything. You're not allowed to crank up the volume until it bleeds and then complain you found noise. You will. Audacity adds a tiny dithering Noise Sign...

A Scarlett Solo is a terrific USB Microphone Preamplifier with an option to produce stable 48 volt Phantom Power for microphones which need it. It will also supply a bi-directional headphone connection which can be used for zero latency musical overdubbing. You bought a 48 volt power supply. Full st...

Re: Noise Remove

Noise Removal was Removed because too many people expected Noise Removal to Remove Noise. To Nothing. It wouldn't do that and we got a monstrous number of people complaining about it. Overall and for a majority of jobs, Noise Reduction works just fine. What's the job? It's still true that people sho...

Re: "faulty sequence tags" and shifted stereo channels

Close Audacity.

Go > Go To Folder > ~/Library. Open Application Support > audacity. Drag audacity.cfg to the trash.

This is not a burn it off solution. If you have a bad plugin or add-on, it will still be there when you reopen Audacity.

my laptop is otherwise functioning flawlessly As far as you know. The video people run into this. Video and audio production are in the short list of applications that stress a machine.
