Re: ACX Mastering

It's not unusual for a performer to wander a little in expression and volume over a 20 minute chapter. I corrected your chapter...and then sent it to Diane instead of you. Laura, meet Diane. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=93800#p316621 I'll be straightening this out now. Koz

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX

I think I stepped in it. Your hero is Clarissa, not Claire. That's not your show.

I got the show to pass ACX nicely whoever the performer is.

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?

that takes up more space and memory. There is another variation. Export whatever you want and save a companion Audacity Project. Full quality and track/marker preservation with no dithering at all. Fair warning Audacity Projects do not save UNDO. And just so we don't go off the end of the pier, you...

Re: New equipment issues

Audacity does not apply effects, filters or corrections during recording. The XLR cable coming out the bottom of the Phantom Power Device should look like a microphone that doesn't use Phantom Power. All of the Phantom Power shenanigans should be restricted to the cable between the microphone and th...

Re: Problem with recording, NOT NORMAL PROBLEM!! Please help

I think I got it. Your microphone or microphone system is producing a "DC Offset" error. A bad one. Look on the left of the blue waves. The waves are supposed to start and end at 0.0 like my picture. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg You can fix this tempora...

Re: Audacity will not load

When you reinstalled, there should have been an option to reset settings and preferences. Did you tick that box? Reinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity.

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX

I have an odd complaint. Starting from the download (perfectly lovely, by the way), tell me who you are. Your posting scrolled from the active help forum window, so I have to go looking for you. There's no identifying information in the download page past what I can glean by actually playing the wor...

Re: Need help interpreting mastering feedback from ACX

I got a correction to work on chapter 1. I need to pause and collect how I did it.

Re: New equipment issues

I've never seen that before. DC Offset. Good you caught it. If it's worse than a very tiny amount, it will restrict sound volume because one side of the blue waves will overload (100%) before the other. Effect > Normalize: [X] Remove DC... > Enter This is one of those tools that develops factions a...
