Re: Soft voice and microphone levels

Everybody gets Noise Reduction wrong. The object is not to create Dead Blackness of Space silence between your words. Assuming a normal, gentle rain-in-the-trees hiss in the background, it's to make it so you can't hear it at normal listening volume. Set my response clip so your voice is normal list...

Re: Soft voice and microphone levels

I expect that to sound exactly like you. It does pass ACX. Anything you do from here is going to involve voice quality changes such as DeEsser or equalizer. I did it an odd way. I applied a home-build plugin called LF-Rolloff. It's difficult to hear tones lower pitch than 100Hz (rumble, thunder), so...

Re: instaling guitar vst plugins how to

This may not be a good match for you. Audacity doesn't apply effects or filters in real time. The best you can do is record yourself plain and then apply effects later. We can tell you how to do that. Describe your computer.

Re: changing voices

..to changeover from reel two to real three. That went away with the gigantic platters which supported the whole movie in one pass and that went away with digital projection.

Have you decided how you're going to vocally shift between characters?

Re: How to set peak recording level at -6 db automatically?

The abbreviated version of that for live performance recording is "occasional peaks around -6dB." It's up to you to adjust the recording system (or your performance) so you achieve that. That value was chosen so you avoid sound that's so loud it becomes distorted and so quiet it gets noisy...

Re: 3.5 mm cable question

I appear to have missed the post.

They make other variations like the UFO-202 which has a phono preamplifier in it.

Re: 3.5 mm cable question

cable like adapters or in line volume controls But not your headphones or headset assembly, right? They work fine? I have seen have three contacts. Not counting the shield. If you have a modern, single-socket laptop, you need to count the shield because it's important. They were doing so well, too....

Re: "dry" audio read

I personally split a performance between editing and filtering/effects. Nobody's interested in listening to you fluffing a word or using the wrong word, but it's way too common for people to viciously beat a performance with a stick between excessive processing, bad filtering and too many effects. Y...

Re: Self-producing an Audiobook

Hope this makes sense. It does, but the only other way to tell what you have is listen to it. Listen on good quality speakers or good headphones. This isn't particularly easy, either. Most computer speakers are trash, built-in speakers aren't nearly good enough and you can't use earbuds or other po...
