Re: Tinny audio w/switch to newer laptop/newer Audacity

Given the volume difference we should note that some machines have a microphone boost buried in Windows settings. This was in response to the microphone maker's products getting quieter and quieter. Home microphone makers have an advantage when they make a quiet microphone. It sounds OK and the perf...

Re: Tinny audio w/switch to newer laptop/newer Audacity

I applied a 10dB volume boost to the Dell voice and it matches the HP voice. No difference except you're too close to the microphone on the HP recording and it's P-Popping. You should do what we're doing. Listen on one machine instead of trying to shuffle back and forth. Select the Dell voice and Ef...

Re: Blue Yeti - Not Recording Both Channels

The forum does super well, but we don't hit them all out of the park.

We should remember you had a known flaky computer right out of the box.

Not getting my warm and fuzzy here.

Re: Skype audio recording

There can be some surprises with the Skype and Zoom recording methods. Try it first as a test before you call the governor for a once in a lifetime interview. And even then, record it two different ways. One of the surprises early on was Zoom taking a week to get the sound files to you. I think they...

Re: Skype audio recording

I believe Skype, like Zoom, has a recording service. They will record both sides of the conversation and send you the sound file. I believe at last check, Zoom will record both sides separately and send you the files. That's the easy solution. As you're finding, doing it all yourself is an uphill cl...

Re: Windows bug: adding a new track from file takes forever if done during playback

seriously under-powered PC with Windows 10. That would be my guess. If the machine had trouble allocating resources, it would pick "Live Performance" first and then shuffle off plain, ordinary, unimportant file transfers for later. That's not to say changing operating systems wouldn't hel...

Re: Poping/Static - not my equipment?

I reinstalled audacity If you're in Audacity 2.4.2, there is a tick to reset Audacity when you reinstall. If you don't select that, Audacity will hold over your old preferences and settings and you won't have the "clean" Audacity you think you do. "listened to device" and did no...

Re: Poping/Static - not my equipment?

I can hear them, but I can't find them. So it seems to be something being added to the show, not Audacity putting blank holes in the sound.

We can see what the other elves think.

Re: Removing click track

I corrected your title typo. You probably don't have trouble with a "clip" track. Probably simple Or not. There are several ways you can get your backing or click track stuck in your performance. And no, there's no good way to remove it once it's there. You should have Overdub selected in ...

Re: Poping/Static - not my equipment?

Do you use cloud storage? Audacity doesn't like that very much.

Do you have a new install of Zoom, Skype or other comm or chat application?
