Re: Recording a full band
After you get Windows "enhancements" turned off, you'll find that bass and drums are going to take over the performance. This is the same problem that live concerts have. I don't know any way to prevent that. Everybody's in love with the bass notes making their shirt vibrate, but you shoul...

Re: Recording a full band
I expect that to work far better than it does. You may have Windows "helping" you. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements Windows is trying really hard to filter out all the "noise" and preserve your speaking voice. I'd start there. Koz

Re: Please ID unwanted noise & advise?
It's not useful to submit work you already filtered because we can't take effects and corrections out. So Post a raw sound segment. Under 10 seconds stereo you can post a WAV here on the forum. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 If you had to boost the volume enough, you ma...

Re: I need help with my Audio
Most people posting YouTube instruction videos could use lessons in editing. Nobody is interested in hearing or watching your mistakes. Noise Removal is no longer offered in Audacity. It had some problems and was difficult to use. Noise Reduction is the current tool and the default settings might no...

Re: I need help with my Audio
This any better? I took out the popping and booming sounds because you're too close to the microphone. Then I applied a De-Esser filter to get rid of the super crisp S S S sounds. I also applied the audiobook volume controls, but I probably didn't need them. We need two clips: One raw recording. Don...

Re: inserting silence
Drag-select the portion you want to remove. Generate > Silence > OK. Generate should carefully create a silent slug that just fits into the hole where the bad sound was. At any time you can click in the sound slug and generate more silence. You can drag-select some of the silence and DEL key. Koz

Re: How to record from turnables
Post back when you either get something to work or need more help. I assume "recording your turntables" means recording the DJ Mixer and not trying to record two turntables at once. Audacity will only record from one device at a time, so you can record one turntable or one microphone.

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 freezes if left alone for 15 minutes
my internal hard drives vary in size and age but all respond fairly quickly (10 seconds or so) the SSD is closer to 30 seconds I'd call that broken. To read that back to you, 'my mechanical drives which are horsing several heavy, mechanical heads and arm assemblies over a platter assembly which tak...

And that's the exact place it's good to know if the drive is spinning metal or SSD. I would expect an SSD to wake back up again in the one or two second region.from the hibernation file on the drive.
