Re: Is A Computer Inaccurate for Music Editing?
You did hit one serious problem. Someone half-joking a while back did a critical analysis of common, popular songs and it turned out to be a match to the Studio JBL Monitor speakers in use during the mix. A common get-out-of-jail card is headphones, and we can do very well here, but I still wouldn't...

Re: Not recording, only straight vertical line across screen
The setup for recording internet sound is brittle and computer makers aren't particularly excited about telling you how to do it since it violates their copyright agreements, terms of service, etc. etc. Even Macs have no natural, convenient way to do this. These are our publications on streaming rec...

Re: missing chunks of silence
we all use audacity to record ourselves on our computers. If everything goes OK that's a totally excellent idea. Where is the podcast? chunks of silence automatically taken out Audacity has a tool which can do that. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Sound Activated Recording. Make sur...

Re: Not recording, only straight vertical line across screen
Posted 1 other question a couple years ago. So that explains why the forum knows who you are. When I play an MP3 from my computer I think we need a goal statement: "I want to record audio from the internet," for example. Your statement doesn't entirely make sense because if you already ha...

Re: Leveler effect missing
Distortion effect: Nobody used the Leveler effect for Leveling. We all used it for the distinctive "air traffic controller" "two-way radio" distortion it could produce. So it was valuable, just not for adjusting volume. I had a sample of me doing that jetliner voice thing and I ...

Re: Latency Problems with MME and Focusrite
You are intended to use the Zero Latency Monitoring Point on your external sound device. That's the only convenient way to listen to yourself perform with no delay or echo in Audacity. If you don't use Audacity, it's possible that other sound programs use ASIO or other tricks to make the computer so...

Re: Is A Computer Inaccurate for Music Editing?
How are you listening on the computer? Anything that goes through a normal computer soundcard is suspect. Digital sound inside the computer is pretty robust (given your settings are flat), but the instant you convert to analog, suddenly all the analog rules apply. One rule that comes to mind is not ...

Not that I know of.no way of doing the things the way I described?
It seems that way, yes.Seems like I'd have to change the workflow, or try out Ardour.

Re: Recording from Vinyl
Are you recording with the sound system cranked all the way up? In actual clubs, I used to put the turntables on slabs of cement to keep them from moving with the beats (the turntables have their own fuzzy feet). Are you recording the turntable, or are you recording Soundflower or other sound softwa...

Re: Audacity Recording Sounds on PC?
does this mean every time i make a video .... Actually, I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting sound leakage through your headset or headphones. So you may have two problems. What is your microphone? Is it part of a headset? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg Which one? If not, ...
