Vocal Removal got a bad name...for failing to remove vocals. The new tool is Vocal Reduction and Isolation. It should be down at the bottom of the Effects Panel. You may need to go through Add/Remove Plugins to get there, but I think it's an built-in tool.

Re: Gapless Playback
Time zero? Why does it need to do that? Assuming the waveforms match what's the difference?the selection must match up exactly with the start of Audacity

Re: Gapless Playback
And correct me, but it only works if the selection fits in memory. If it doesn't, the machine has to smash the physical hard drive armature back and forth and you get serious gaps.

Re: Flat line when recording...first time connection...
I've routed an audio cable from the headphone jack to the computer. Describe the computer connection. Most single-socket laptop connections are going to fail. They are intended for connection to a headset for conferences or chat. The recording is never going to be stereo and it's a good bet it's go...

Re: conversion loss rates
Standard Audio CD got that much very high quality music onto one silvery disk by eliminating options. You get one pass of 74 to 80 minutes broken up into as many as 99 songs. You can get close to 80 minutes by having one song. The number of minutes goes down the more songs the disk has to keep track...

Re: SPL and Audacity
If SPL Meters measure things like manufacturing machinery pounding and screaming and music sound system hearing hazards, how do you measure echoes and background sound leakage?

Yes that's the Secret Aural Teachings posting on the Dark Web. The manual available to normal humans doesn't say that.
