Re: Problems with recording vocal tracks
Am I expecting too much from Audacity? No. Given your computer can handle perfect playback of the original work and perfect recording of the new work at the same time , you should be able to overdub just fine. There is a tutorial and most of it is just slogging through it step by step, but there is...

Re: Audacity won't record
Have I left out any important info? That's good to go for a while. You should know that reinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity. The Windows installer should ask you if you want to reset the preferences and settings. Say yes. I also disabled my computer's default microphone Does that work? Dis...

Re: How to inject the sound "fl" in a song's melody
It might seem that you should jam the new sound into the existing work, that's probably not really manageable with the existing tools. I would probably start by putting the original work on track one and import the new sound on track two. Then using the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows), p...

Re: Gapless Playback
If I had to guess at it, I'd say Audacity working at super high quality, uncompressed internal format has a lot to do with it. We know from the Vine document that they had a major shortcoming being forced to work with compressed/processed AAC audio. That's just deadly. We suggest very strongly that ...

Re: no output audio in windows media player after installati
I have successfully ripped and stored an LP to my computer with audacity. How? How did you connect the turntable to the computer? It's not unusual for Windows to assume a new USB device is both record and playback when you plug it in. So Windows may be thinking it needs to play music back to the tu...

Re: Gapless Playback
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity_projects.html Are you a developer/programmer and are you comfortable in C++? I don't think there is a half-way point and I'm reasonably sure nobody wrote the course on why they did what they did. I know there was a discussion of why they changed from seque...

Re: Gapless Playback
In DVD burning land, it's common to mess up the opening menu which commonly loops a short segment of the movie behind the menu—Play, Select, Language, etc. It's stupid simple. You are really playing one massive movie with all the loops perfectly built in. If you stick with it long enough, the DVD pl...

Re: Gapless Playback
How does Audacity loop play keep the loop seamless? As above up the thread, Audacity busts the music up into tiny chunks and cleverly juggles the chunks so there is always fresh music in memory at just exactly the right time, and it doesn't matter where the hole is. The only requirement is musical,...

The search term is Edit Metadata.

But I don't think it's going to do what you want.
Audacity has an Auto Batch tool called Chains.

Re: Editing Tools Not Working
The Desperation Method is do it inside out. Make sure you have a protection copy of the original work, so no mistakes can destroy it by accident. Select before your IN point to the beginning of the work and delete it. Now select after your OUT point to the end and delete that. Now chip away at the w...
