Re: MIDI sound instruments

How are you listening to the songs? You should be able to point to a demarcation point. The connection to your speaker system or headphones is a good one. Instead of sending the sound to your headphones, send it to a sound recorder or second computer for recording in Audacity. That connection is the...

Re: Help! Lost all audio in AUP after Audacity crashed

I save often because it crashes all the time. I'd stop editing the show and fix the computer. There is no "crashing all the time." Your computer and Audacity are not a good match. How long is the show? How much room on your computer or drives? Do you use cloud storage? Audacity hates clou...

Re: Removing an effect after adding it

I used reverb and saved it But if you didn't close Audacity, you can Edit > UNDO. If you closed Audacity, yeah, that's the end. It's a terrific idea to keep backup copies of all your sound files and Export WAV (Microsoft) copies of all your performances before you edit them. That's just a generic g...

Re: Making different audio files sound the same

How are you listening? This job would be hopeless without a killer sound system, particularly if some of the work was shot outside. Being able to hear rumble and barely audible thunder/earthquake sound is super important. Wind noises can be the worst. Those sounds can really mess up volume setting a...

Re: Mackie ProFX10v3 Mixer Connection

I can't find a USB light on the mixer. I guess we're taking it on blind faith that the USB connection is OK. Does it say somewhere in the instructions? Close Audacity. Go into the Windows Control Panels > Sound > Recording. Do you see the USB device that corresponds to the Mackie? It can say anythin...

Re: Mackie ProFX10v3 Mixer Connection

OK (rolling up sleeves). Over on the right. Power light should be on and 48V should be off. See: Left-hand channel strip (top to bottom). Plug the SM58 into Input #1. You should be using an actual XLR cable for this. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/XLR-Cable-500.jpg No adapters or other funn...

Re: Hearing other person on therapy recording session

VA Support says that due to privacy concerns, VA Video Connect doesn't support recording. Since most people connect hands-free, they recommend taking a stand-alone sound recorder or voice recording app on your phone with you and leave it running on the table or desk during the call.

Re: Hearing other person on therapy recording session

When you say you've used "hardware techniques" to address this problem, what do you mean? I always add a "thing" or a machine. Everybody goes into this with the idea of communicating easily on the computer and making a good quality recording of both sides on the same computer . ...

Re: Clicking when Transferring DAT recordings

Do you have access to a second DAT machine? Have you done your analog protection copies? Have you ever seen a DAT machine threading itself? It's nothing like a little audio cassette machine dragging a narrow tape between two reels. It's a little video cassette recorder with threading arms, spinning ...
