Re: ART USB Dual Pre digital artifact
Ah. Comes the dawn. A Coles 4104 Lip Microphone is designed to be screamed into by someone in a very high noise environment. "SO CAL APPROACH. PIPER 202 REQUEST LANDING RUNWAY TWO-FOUR RIGHT." Right. So disconnect the microphone and preamp and put those in a drawer somewhere. Try straight ...

making me aware of possible problems. There's no condition that I can't make a lot worse. There will be 8 songs. My personal preference would be to produce 8 segments (one song and following narration). Set the CD software for zero song gaps and each time you press "Next,"on your player y...

Any chance it is military? That may be even more remote than getting Doctor Laura on your fillings. Much more likely that's FM and television. That's what our collection looks like. That's the top of Mount Wilson. The optical Wilson Observatory is in the back. Sucky picture, but it is some 30 miles...

import music onto audacity via ... you-tube How are you going to get the YouTube music? There are some software packages that claim to be able to "download" YouTube shows, but if that fails, you will be capturing the music with special settings. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial...

And just because I haven't gone down the magic path for a while, in the case of AM radio, any bad electrical connection can be made to receive radio programs. It's actually not that unusual. In extreme cases, people have been able to faintly hear radio shows on their teeth from acid saliva and metal...

Re: ART USB Dual Pre digital artifact
He was right. Electric fences are a thing. You can run three strands of barbed wire around your fields, or one thin strand of insulated electric fence and call it done. The stock touches it once and that's all it takes. But it is electric and it can have leakage and sparking problems. But that doesn...

Re: ART USB Dual Pre digital artifact
Not sure what you mean by having the wrong side turned down. It's a dual preamplifier and you're only using one side, so there is a wrong or dead side. That should be turned down. if anyone could offer some advice on shielding the Dual Pre from RFI. I don't think I've ever seen equipment that sensi...

Re: How to manage the delay when recording with a DAW
If you're complaining about having your new music overlay the old backing track, that is adjustable. That's one of the setup steps you need to go through for easy overdubbing. Once that's set and your computer doesn't do anything silly, you should be able to lay on track after track with good accura...

Re: USB microphone with low recording level
I think koz has, or had one, so can probably give more information. I do have an X2U. I don't think I've ever used it for serious recording because of low volume. All the tests were with the volume controls all the way up and it still wasn't enough. I complained to Shure and they effectively said, ...

Re: How to manage the delay when recording with a DAW
You're overdubbing, right, listening to a backing track while you perform live? As a rule you can't hear yourself while you do that. The computer sound is always late and its not adjustable. You need to record with a microphone, interface or mixer that allows "zero latency monitoring." Man...
