Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
One other note. Recording volume and Submitting volume are different. Submitting volume is very tightly controlled so as to make each chapter sound the same and more or less match all the other audiobooks. Recording volume has to be as loud as convenient with no chance at all of peak damage or overl...

Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
SetRMS is something of a gift. We never had a way to set RMS (Loudness) intentionally. We always had to use the other tools and pray everything worked out. In some instances now, SetRMS and Limiter are all you need. They are effectively invisible and I can't imagine ACX flagging the work (they hate ...

Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
There is one other possibility, too, as I'm finding out with one of my recorders. You could have environment and noise suppression running which gives you a very quiet noise level but a slightly honky voice. If you get rid of the effect, your noise level may skyrocket (as mine did) even as the voice...

Re: Running Audacity With FIrewire Input
Does the mixer headphone socket have sound? Audacity gets its sound from Windows. Does Windows know what's going on? Go into the Windows control panels and make sure they can see the mixer FireWire service and that the sound goes through. Is there a Windows 10 driver needed? Windows 10 is not a &quo...

Re: Tascam 16x08... or 4x4 & 2x2 (multi-source)
4 hour audio session in Audacity? Not quite the right words. You want a four hour uncompressed multi-track recording. And then, the first change or edit you make, Audacity is going to try to save the whole show again as an UNDO. And it will do that at every edit. So horsing around all that data is ...

Re: Tascam 16x08... or 4x4 & 2x2 (multi-source)
Audacity as a rule can't deal with multiple different devices. You get one, but that one can be multi-channel. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=38626 They don't all work and there's no way to know unless somebody posts one way or the other. I believe Audacity can only play ster...

Re: Trying to isolate a specific guitar ??
If Effects > Vocal Reduction and Isolation didn't do it, then I think that's the end. Screaming, dense rock music doesn't lend itself to post production. That and a YouTube song is going to have posting video compression damage on top of everything else to mess up direction and quality cues. Maybe o...

Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
I'm listening on a much larger sound system and I think I can hear some MP3 odd sounds (talking in a wine glass) in there. If the last thing the Alesis was used for was voice memos, chances are it's set for the highest compression, smallest sound files and minimum sound quality. So with a button pus...

Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
While you're experimenting, start a recording facing the recorder display and then tip it so the top is facing you. Maintain the same lip spacing. It's possible the sound quality is going to change when you do that. Pick the one you like best. I can't get the instructions to tell me how to orient th...

Re: Checking For ACX Coimpliance
The Alesis can be set to deliver in WAV instead of MP3. Do that.
