Re: Help fixing a messed up wav
View > Show Clipping. If there's any red in the blue waves, that portion of the show is permanently damaged. I then transfer the .wav file from the iPad to a Windows So you still have the original recording. That's the good news. It's a very new user problem to accidentally lose or record over the o...

Re: recording in the red
Can you tell we're all giving each other the puzzled puppy look? Wait, it's too loud????????? People posting with high volume problems generally find Processing, Conference or Chat tools running. Plain Yeti microphones do not have naturally high volume. There is a little trick. Instead of talking lo...

Re: how to alter audio levels
But before you get all excited about applying filters and effects, View > Show Clipping. Do you get any red bands in your show? Clipping is where the volume of the show is too high to be recorded and the recording has distortion in it. Clipping usually appears as snappy or crunchy words or harsh dis...

Add polished and packages tools and subtract the Legacy file system. Everybody wins!when Audacity 2.1.4 comes out.

Re: Tascam 16x08... or 4x4 & 2x2 (multi-source)
The pictures show other tricks. That book/towel thing is how to avoid picking up floor and building vibrations in your microphone. You need both. The towel provides sloppy isolation from the desk and the book provides a high inertia, heavy base. Between them you get almost total isolation. The gold ...

Re: why file not found when I am looking at the file
Use the Windows search system to look for Shadow 2-11 FINAL.aup . If this is a Project after editing and final production, then you can't put it back together without the AUP file. Did you make any intermediate, uniquely-named Projects in the process? Do you have all the original files and materials...

Re: why file not found when I am looking at the file
You may have a fried show. This is an Audacity Project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg You have to have both parts for a Project to open. Double click the AUP file and its computer programming opens up the _DATA folder and tells Audacity what to do with all those litt...

Re: Audio files at different bitrates won't sync
We need to start somewhere, so Media INFO is a grand place. Do that. I don't have same duration tracks. You won't if one recorder was running at 44100 and the other was running at 44101 or some other fraction off. The second track will play with your machine "assuming" it was correctly rec...

You're miles ahead of most first-time users, so I'm not worried. Post back if you find a problem you can't explain or fix. Export Protection Copies of each shoot, or make, say, thumb drive copies before you start post production editing. There should be no reason to go back and shoot it again unless...

Re: Audio files at different bitrates won't sync
If it's not extreme, variation in timing are perfectly normal. Effect > Change Speed. I think one of the variations is put in the durations of the two tracks and the effect will figure everything else out. The people who do four and five different independent locations have to do this all the time. ...
