Re: Sound not crystal clear - tinny

You have all the symptoms of a broken microphone or recording system. You noticed the odd sound. I noticed that the recording volume is a tiny fraction of what it's supposed to be. This is about what your Audacity screen is supposed to look like during a normal recording. https://www.kozco.com/tech/...

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

Everyone's sound quality is vastly different so each track requires it own approach to mastering News shows are running into this constantly now. It used to be when they "cut to the guy at the building fire," you were expecting fire-engine sounds and chaos. Now, it's recording in the kitc...

Re: Save Lossless Project...?

NOT a bug It's an unintended feature when you lead someone to believe they have taken some action that they have in fact not taken. Save Lossless does not object to the action I took. If there is no pre-existing Project, Save a Copy should fail. And that wasn't an answer. So to get a Lossless Proje...

Re: Save Lossless Project...?

"Save Lossless Project" goes away
That's why I gave second thoughts to posting this.

So that brings us around to: How do you save a Lossless Project, since I just told somebody to do that a couple of hours ago?

Re: Save Lossless Project...?

When you "close everything" does Audacity prompt you to save changes? Actually, it does. I didn't write that down. I did think that was a little odd. I thought I just had. Did I discover a tool that works recursively in the subjunctive? Save a lossless copy of the project that you would h...

Can you reproduce the problem?

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

Yell if you get lost. I just go until somebody stops me.

For example, you can convert a stereo (two blue wave) track to mono (one blue wave) with Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo to Mono.

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

This is what my -96dB meters look like in real life. MeterRange-96dB.png We note that the original Cool Edit sound meters did this across the bottom of the screen instead of the top. But wait. There's more! The playback meters are set to display Peak and RMS, Green and Chartreuse. The Recording mete...

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

There is a publishing note. You might be able to apply the complete Audiobook Mastering Suite of tools to your Edit Master WAV, only use LUFS for Loudness Normalization instead of the audiobook standard RMS. You might be able to rejigger the Limiter step to keep your show out of overload. I know 0.0...
