Re: One side of headphones not functioning if Audacity insta

At first I thought this was an issue with the headphones You missed the opening scene of the movie. When did you first discover right-channel only? Just after you got your new laptop out of the packing? What are you listening to that works OK with no Audacity? Windows Media? Explorer/YouTube? Games...

Re: USB CAD u37 microphone - settings?

spend-a-few-dollars-and-get-great-sound solution. There are a couple that get close. The Blue Yeti microphone is apparently used by billions of people to great effect. Take it out of the box, plug it in and start recording your podcast or audiobook. It doesn't always work out perfectly, though, and...

Re: Audio distorted - fades - Inferior

I'm more than even sure this isn't it, but reinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity. You didn't restart the machine anywhere in that list.

Drill down to the Windows Sound Control panels and see if Windows is getting any sound on its little meters.

Re: Making Changes to an Existing Track - Corrupts File

You should do everything in WAV until you get to the posting or deliver to the client. And that's only if the client wants it that way. Your archive of the final edit should be in WAV. You can make a WAV into anything. Also, save WAV clips of existing live recordings so if the show crashes in the mi...

Re: Making Changes to an Existing Track - Corrupts File

when I make changes to an previously recorded voice track. What changes? Describe in painful detail what the show is and what changes you were trying to make. Are you trying to live announce new words and phrases? Are you using WAV or other uncompressed files for storage or are you in MP3? Distorte...

Re: Making Changes to an Existing Track - Corrupts File

First off, you should be in Audacity 2.1.2 from here:

http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/

And the Windows installer has provision to reset preferences and settings. When that option comes up, say yes.

More in a bit.

a level difference between different USB ports for example between USB 2 and USB 3 ports.
That's not a function of USB, is it? That's much more likely the makers trying to "help us."

so I can control airflow The jokes fairly write themselves, don't they? I have a Behringer UM2 interface I have used to good effect. I understand the big brother stereo version UMC202 works well. Once you have an XLR interface with 48 volt Phantom Power (that's important), then the whole world of X...

Re: How to avoid sound discrepancies on a cardiode condenser

use a dynamic omni in stead of a cardio condenser... And since nobody makes a self-contained dynamic (moving coil) USB microphone, you'd be re-engineering your sound system with mixers, digitizers, etc. The big kids use mixers and larger XLR-type microphones. Once you past a certain point, you can ...
