Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
Select the one Mono track by clicking just above MUTE. Duplicate - Control-D Menu on the left > Make Stereo Track. I personally don't like the tools where Audacity does stuff in the background like that pan slider thing. Let's do this a little different. If you mount your interface as mono, is it po...
Re: crosstalk
Can you tell if the crosstalk track was paying the right direction? Was it going backwards? If it was going backwards, then it's crosstalk in the player. That or a tape problem. Audacity tries to play all its tracks at the same time unless you tell it not to with the MUTE and SOLO buttons on the lef...

Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
Your interface is intended to be used with two microphones. It will produce a track with all one microphone on left and all the other on Right. That may seem to be an odd choice, but from there you can use Audacity to "mix down" your performance to whatever you want including individually ...

One note. Although it's not a stereo track, a mono track will play to both left and right. This is usually indicated if you're recording to AudioBook.

Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
What are you recording? What is the show? If you're producing a voice performance such as AudioBook or Podcast, it's easy to fix in post production. Select the show on the blue-wave timeline by clicking just above MUTE. Use the drop-down menu on the left > Stereo Track to Mono. This will give you tw...

Re: Playback skipping ahead
I think Koz had this problem just once a few years ago. * Oh, I remember that. I made an important voice recording of someone giving me detailed instructions that I was never going to remember any other way. The recording started out clean and over time started to to repeat repeat words words. Furt...

Re: problem burning to disc
There are magic errors. There is a way to connect a microphone wrong where the show only appears if you're listening in stereo. If you have a mono player or a sound system that mixes down to mono, the show will vanish. There are ways in Audacity to discover errors like this, but you do have to work ...

Re: Truncated files
recording a few partials for my audition What does that mean? Did you make several individual tracks one above the other and then save an Audacity Project? Did you keep pressing Pause and then announce one after the other? Did you save a Project instead of a WAV or MP3? Which numbered version of Au...

Re: Recording Level Automatically Compressed - Can't Clip
I think you're losing it as you enter the soundcard. The gain specification for the Phono Preamp is misleading. The phrase "Phono Preamp" means it knows how to untangle the RIAA distortion that the engineers built into a phonograph record. Bass notes don't fit in a groove, so they are supp...
