It's back.

Let's take the internet connections down on Sunday.

Re: How to edit mp3 file without exporting/re-encoding?

mp3DirectCut can do some basic editing without decompressing the file.

Re: How to edit mp3 file without exporting/re-encoding?

Is this possible with Audacity?
No. You are looking for one of the "Pure MP3 Editors." They have very limited cutting and editing and don't have to rip the MP3 part and put it back together again with the increase in compression damage.

Re: Sound not crystal clear - tinny

6-7 meters long, That's not a good idea. 2M or shorter is just about right. That used to be a printer cable. The only way to split your voice from the house noises is remove the house. This is why people record their voices inside closets, under beds, and backs of cars. Here's one possibility. http...

Re: Application Crash When Saving/Exporting

Time Machine on Mohave and later does not work with my NAS. I am using local SSD storage with over 345GB available space. Really Local Internal storage? Audacity doesn't do well when it has to step into Network Negotiations, no matter where they are. If you have a slow local drive with 3GB free spa...

Re: Application Crash When Saving/Exporting

Is there a fix? Burn the computer. Try to choose a non-toxic accelerant and do it with orange cone warnings and adequate ventilation. I have High Sierra on multiple Macs (due to unfortunate choices in newer OS versions), Audacity 2.4.2, and don't get spinning beachballs. Do you use Cloud Storage? A...

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

There is one other oddity it's good to know about. You can't overload Audacity by an action or effect. Once the show is on a timeline, it's possible for the waveforms to exceed 100% (0dB) with no damage. Yes, if you have clipping damage warning set, you will get red lines... https://www.kozco.com/te...

Re: Hard Limiter

Describe the show. You may be trying to get the limiter to do the wrong thing. Hard Limiter is a distortion effect and is almost never used with normal music, voice, or natural sounds. Why are you using it?

Re: Sound not crystal clear - tinny

We usually go right around this because it's almost always the same, but where is the slider on the Audacity microphone control? It's supposed to be all the way up (+) on a USB microphone and it's usually automatic. Where is yours?
