Re: Which is preferable for recording - tablet or iphone?
There is a cousin forum message where I recorded a story using an iPod. I would expect the iPhone to work as well. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=95067 You should know the microphone is on the camera (back) side of the iPod. I recorded a test where I turned the unit around an...

Agua Caliente
This is a short story I wrote a while back. It fits nicely in an email which is where these things normally go. It's two minutes, so the WAV won't fit on the forum. Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 22.13.45.png I shot it in my super quiet third bedroom after 22:00, so I didn't have to juggle the metrobus s...

Re: Which is preferable for recording - tablet or iphone?
I'd start with the Windows tools. That may be all you need.
Do post back when you get something you like. It is a forum, not a help desk.

Re: Muted headset mic but Audacity can still hear in-game au
Use the Audacirty Device Toolbar and make sure you're recording just the microphone device, not StereoMix, What-U-Hear or any of the other "record everything" services. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html Audacity is not the best app for recording game work. It doesn't a...

Re: Which is preferable for recording - tablet or iphone?
Cool. So that would be one of these? Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 10.55.18.png Unless you stop it, Windows will try to apply voice processing, echo cancellation and environment suppression to your recording. If you have a lot of echo and noise in the room, the recording can sound like a bad cellphone. ...

Re: Which is preferable for recording - tablet or iphone?
You're getting dangerously out of my comfort zone. I need to look up your microphone and see how to make it happy. In general microphones don't "sound bad," but you can have terrible environments. You can also have the recorder trying to "help you" and have the help seriously mis...

Re: Which is preferable for recording - tablet or iphone?
Well, so far I have made good use of VoiceMemo which is the built-in voice recording app. My personal sound recorder failed and the only thing to hand was the iPhone. Actually, I have a current model iPod. iPhone without the dial tone. I parked it in the middle of two people and turned it on. It wor...
Re: crosstalk
And print-through would be right-side up. It would also be one reel revolution away from the current show, so, what? One second? Two seconds? Early or late depending on which layer printed?

Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
Some Windows machines have an automatic sound boost for USB connections. That's research for you. I'm not a Windows elf.
I know why. Manufacturers have been making USB microphones with low volume.

Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
Just runnin' this through my head again. The 404 still isn't a mixer. if you fill it up with microphones you're going to get four independent sound tracks with one microphone on each one. If you try the two microphone XY mux thing, you're going to have to process that later in post production. Unles...
