Re: Agua Caliente

I did install Garage Band, too. The goal is to get software to stop helping me.

"We can call it the accompany rhythm backing track if you insist, but I just want want you to record until I get done and then stop."

Re: Agua Caliente

Yeah, that power thing came up pretty quickly.

Regard the recent poster getting the affordable, 48v condenser microphone working on his analog soundcard.

Tell you what, I'll be turning out reasonable quality work with that thing in my pocket while we get your microphone working.

Re: Cleaning up a voice recording

but they hardly help. It wouldn't help. Noise Reduction is designed to gently reduce constant background noises such as air conditioners, fans or mild microphone hum. It won't do a thing for your list of noisemakers. I've used the VoiceMemo feature of my iPod with the unit sitting on the desk betwe...

Re: Agua Caliente

Yes, but (rolling up sleeve), you can place the phone on a plane such as a foot-square piece of 1/2" plywood over a towel and get the 6dB back in pseudo pressure-zone technique. good SN ratio is not one of them. I wondered about that. I was fully expecting to need noise reduction. Imagine my su...

Re: How to choose which track to record over?

Audacity doesn't have smash record. You can select a track and press Append-Record (Shift-R.) Audacity will jam the new work on the end of the old track.

You can also select a point in an existing track and press Record. Audacity will start a new track at that time position.

Re: Agua Caliente

It finally stopped producing "sky water" long enough to make pictures. This is how I shot "Agua Caliente." iPod-MicStand-500.jpg That's the microphone and it should be facing the performer. iPodMicrophone3-650.jpg I mailed a note to that poster who was using a phone to record the...

Re: Slide pitch with LINEAR rate

I suspect what you have now is linear and you want log. 400Hz or 440Hz is generally considered roughly half-way up the scale. That's the oboe tone at the beginning of the orchestra. If you kept increasing the pitch in 400Hz jumps, you'd be at the upper end sometime next week. But if you went up by l...

Re: which font is used for timeline and meter numbers?

I can look it up, but it's scary you found a need to remove system fonts. Macs tend to be tightly integrated. Mess with QuickTime services, for example, and you can turn a Mac into rubble.

Re: Agua Caliente

Or even if Audacity copied older effects forward on command instead of referencing them. I would only have to go through Add/Remove once.

We can do that right after jettisoning the split file system.
