I've seen body harnesses where you put the bottom of the pole against your tummy. I used to wonder about women doing that job, but I was at a producti...

Re: Error opening .aup file

Right then. That puts us in Disaster Recovery. If it's a fresh, clean, mono recording, there's some chance of recovering it with tools and utilities. If it's a fresh, clean stereo recording, you may get a recovered show with Left and Right out of order, or flipping in and out of order. If it's a cut...

Re: Audacity Plugins for Podcasters

That's just too fuzzy/open-ended. What's the show? What's the goal? Are you gamecasting? Skype interviews? Assuming your basic recording is without obvious errors (P-Popping, Hissss noises), I would be tempted to use Chris's Compressor. Chris can take whatever you did and even it out so there are no...

Re: First-In-First-Out' (FIFO), fix length recording

That would be the "surveillance mode" that Audacity doesn't have. It won't on-the-fly time stamp, either.

You would think there's no down side to those features, but you haven't had to deal with people trying to use Audacity for legal actions and law enforcement.

Re: Reducing sound just for clipping?

If you would just as soon your music sound more natural, Amplify everything as you're doing now and Effect > Limiter > Soft Limit as in the illustration. It should fix all the red lines in the timeline and should sound less harsh. This is a cousin to a recommended compression scheme for reading audi...

a part of the audio I recorded What is the show? Are you reading an audiobook? One of the things you gain with a studio and high end recording equipment is repeatability. Unless you catch a mistake right away and sing or perform a correction, chances of coming back later and getting everything to f...

Re: MP3 to MIDI

That's because MIDI isn't a music or sound format. Musical Instrument Digital Interface is machine control. It's how you tell a musical instrument such as a keyboard how to produce music. After you do that successfully, then you can capture the sound it makes in WAV, MP3 or other sound format. It's ...

Re: Isolate voice when you have the instrumental track

If you're ripping Audio CDs, they should arrive as WAV, 44100, 16-bit Stereo. That's the CD native format. Leave them that way.

If your ripper insists on making MP3, get a new ripper.
