Re: New to ACX and narrating any advice would be appreciated
Actually, links and instructions are a constant problem. There's no telling what sort of corrections a poster will need or what the starting and end points are likely to be. That and it's a moving target because some of the tools are overly simple and are "in development." That's felt-tip ...

Re: New to ACX and narrating any advice would be appreciated
There is a serious new user problem where a first performance has a number of problems and solving them, instead of fixing things, leads to more problems...... If I wasn't cheerful enough with that, ACX has a failure called "Overprocessing." If you got there by beating your sound file with...

Re: High noise floor, hiss, high beep sound
There is one other noise trick. There is an irresistible urge to crank the volume in the player all the way up when you're testing for noise. Resist this urge. Set the player for a comfortable presentation volume (remember the goal is someone telling you a juicy story over cups of tea). Then, withou...

Re: High noise floor, hiss, high beep sound
Cool. Abbreviated version: I cut off the last three seconds of silence. Some of tools work on overall loudness and density of show sound, so putting a lot of silence in the show can throw them off. Your microphone creates tons of low tone rumble. I can't tell if you live near an airport or metro-rai...

BBC Meters
How about a BBC ballistics option for the sound meters? I'm not in love with the 1-7 meter range, but I do like rapid attack and slow recovery. That makes the readings much easier to perceive, particularly if you're trying to read your script and watch the meters at the same time. Jury's out on the ...

Re: High noise floor, hiss, high beep sound
Does anyone have any experience with this? Yes. The goal is to announce so your peak sound meters poke up around -6dB or so. This can mean you need to pay attention to the meters and the script at the same time. The meters can be made much larger so they're easier to see. Click and drag. The latest...

Re: No sound during playback
Just going on the title and ignoring the text, are you using a USB microphone? Sometimes, Windows will assign playback to a "USB Device" ignoring the kind of device it is. Make sure your speakers or headphones system is listed as playback in the Audacity Device Toolbar. http://manual.audac...

Re: No sound during playback
That's an excellent description.
One piece missing. You got to the end of the first presentation, finished production editing..... and then you left it hanging and that's important. Export as WAV?? Restart Audacity? What happened at that exact point? Has this ever worked?
