Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder

That's an Audacity Project and MP3 is a stand-alone sound file. I don't know where the system is getting that additional work from.

Re: iphone 4

If you install the FFmpeg software into Audacity, it might open up the sound portion of the original MP4 video file. Scroll down. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ RAW rarely does what everybody wants. Instead of relying on known file format specifications (published and normally invisib...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10

Windows 10 is not a simple upgrade. It's a new system and software has to be written for it. If you have any devices, drivers or other software from a legacy system, they will need to be updated and they need to claim "Windows 10 support."

Re: Wanting to record D&D session

There was a recent post from someone who was doing that. I don't remember what the complaint was, but it was relatively trivial and they had 99% of the show already working. If you do this just right, it can appear as if you're in the same room instead of multiple time zones apart. This technique is...

Re: Wanting to record D&D session

Is there a way of recording both? There's one nobody ever thinks of. It's not impossible to make Audacity record the local microphone. That's a service of the computer, not the game. So both ends record their own microphones and one ships their WAV sound file to the other for editing. WAV is strong...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10

If you started Audacity and then plugged in your player, Audacity will not see it. Audacity checks for connections when it starts. Restart Audacity with the player connected or Transport > Rescan. Make sure your player appears on the Audacity Device Toolbar. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device...

Re: Editing in 32-bit vs 16-bit sampling formats

It's not 32. It's 32-floating. Audacity uses that internally to avoid processing damage during editing. 32-floating doesn't overload. If you apply a filter or effect that causes your show blue waves to rise over zero—to go into clipping, you can just bring the volume down later and keep going. In th...

Flash from the past. That also works out to 1000/1001. And that's not to say you can't have two errors, but that's the one I'm familiar with.

Re: Desync issue Audacity 2.1.0 executable Windows 7-64

NTSC isn't that hard. It turned out at the dawn of color (not colour), the technique most gentle and agreeable to people left watching in black and white involved pushing the frame rate off a little (this is the very highly sanitized version). NTSC television framerate is not 30. It's 29.97. And yes...

Re: Reduce voice not eliminate

Effect, Invert, ...
Or, you could use the Audacity pre-baked tools: Effect > Vocal Remover and Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation.

Maybe that last one has something you could use.
