Re: How do I write-protect a particular track?

There is no locking for individual tracks. We generally recommend exporting a WAV sound file of anything critical. If it's multiple tracks, select each track and File > Export Selected.

Past that, Audacity can't help you with surveillance, evidence production or law enforcement.

Re: How can i record a two way phone conversation

I removed your email address. Audacity does not offer personal help and it's insanely dangerous to post a live email address on the forum. Audacity doesn't do well on a machine with other sound programs. In most cases, you can get your own voice because that's a service of your computer, but the far...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10

I expect it to work with Windows 10 although I'm flying blind since I'm not a Windows elf. Windows 10 was the current Windows version when Audacity 2.1.3 was presented. ClearClick Audio CD That had to be a third-party add-on. I'm pretty sure Audacity by itself has never been able to burn anything. Koz

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder

That's understandable, but isn't it the case you can have an add-on or plug-in that can cause Audacity to act funny or fail to run or even start? Obviously, if I have these conditions I need to reinstall Audacity to make it start over. Oh, wait... I have a warm spot for a "burn it off, hose it ...

Re: How do i make it sound like it does on the software?

Are you exporting the show in MP3? Is the MP3 quality either 32 or 64? If not, you should describe what you're recording. Take it down to part numbers. "I have a Doobly-Doo microphone plugged into a Yadda-Yadda interface.." Are you doing a simple voice or instrument recording? Games, confe...

Re: Presonus Firepod setup

Of course, you can only record in mono which is what I'd do for a podcast anyway. It's not always natural. Some interfaces force stereo and your microphone comes out Left and you can't stop it. Count your blessings. Would it be better to run an XLR to 3.5 mm cable from the Firepod line 1 output int...

iMovie is a handy editor on a Mac. Crosses between Mac formats and Windows have traditionally been messy.

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder

It's probably worth backing up a bit. save an Audacity Project file for emergencies. I hope not. Audacity projects have multiple parts, see illustration, above. It's not A File (yet). An Audacity Project will not open with any of the parts missing. We can't start with the pile of files in the _DATA ...

Re: Need help making a clean export to MP3

64 MP3 quality is the lowest acceptable for a stereo show. That means some people some of the time can detect some minor compression damage (wine-glass speech, etc). Pick a higher MP3 quality (which will raise the file size). You can produce the show in mono in stead of stereo. Minimum MP3 quality f...

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder

You could try Audacity 2.1.3 and get it from us.

http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/

Make sure you have protection copies of all your plugs-ins and add-ons and say yes when it asks you to reset preferences and settings.
