Re: Recording with behringer podcastudio

2) Disconnect the USB mixer
Please note from the forum message scramble, I don't think the poster has a USB mixer. I think they have a plain analog mixer and a USB device similar to the UCA-202.

I think it could be very valuable to know a lot more about that device.

Re: Instrument "isolation" with Noise reduction

their professional services can do full mixes
We do note that you can usually do a respectable job, but probably not at Audacity's cost structure.

Re: Error: reference to invalid character number at line 6

I can tell you in the first one, line 6 appears to be a full-on, Purchase/Subscribe multi-linked commercial. Do you have a Mystery User on your machine with you? When was the last time you did a stiff virus scan? Are you trying to post a forbidden commercial on the Audacity forum? Koz Line 5: (norma...

Re: Instrument "isolation" with Noise reduction

The Party Line is still that Audacity can't split up a mixed performance into individual instruments, voices and sounds. Performers who post on the forum aren't interested in experiments. They want something they can use for real musical performances and few of these tricks will do that. Since, as I...

Re: I professionally miss mono and Hz

thank you for such speedy replies. The forum elves actively cover (I think) 9 time zones, so it's rare to have someone out of sight of help. No, this is not post and wait three weeks for a response. updated to the latest audacity 2.1.3? 2.1.3 still has a few holes in it, but far fewer than 2.1.2. m...

Re: I professionally miss mono and Hz

Audio dramas still use mono for the most part - I don't know why. A bookkeeper might know. It takes twice the storage, distribution and transmission to process a stereo show, and it's slightly more difficult to edit. All for a tiny increase in quality. ACX AudioBooks strongly recommends doing all y...

Re: Blue yeti and a stand.

You can also use the pattern publication nobody understands. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/CardioidPattern.png If you're standing at the top of that pattern, you're in the "sweet spot" for best, loudest sound. If you're at the exact bottom, you won't be picked up at all—unless you...

Re: Noise Gate with a sidechain?

The nit-picker is raising his hand.
This isn't a side chain noise gate. This is a side chain gate.
A gating effect is cause to happen from work on a second sound channel. It does not trigger a gate that then starts evaluating and processing noise.

Re: Recording with behringer podcastudio

connect the mixer to your computer with the USB cable Isn't this the system that has a USB device between the mixer and the computer? What is that device? I'm familiar with the Behringer UCA-202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg Mine are white. I know they make a re...

Re: Which mic better

No reason not to do that, given our comments on minor variations in sound quality. Technically, there's very little difference. If you're working in the field, it's worth noting which microphone has the tighter pattern and the most likely to avoid room noise and other Room Tone problems. Also rememb...
