Re: No devices showing up
Audacity gets its sound from Windows, not the device. Open Windows control panels (Right-click the speaker symbol in the right) and see if your device appears there. Those panels also have a sound meter, so you can check everything. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Win7-RightClickSpeaker.jpg ...

Re: Silence at Random Intervals - Same Number Missing Blocks and Orphan Blocks
If nothing happened and the Audacity Project became damaged, it's possible your computer isn't up to this exercise. The messages were written by a developer who was a little optimistic. I don't know anybody who has ever pulled a show back together from damage like that. Is your show a multi-track pr...

Re: Guaranteed High Frequency Sound Card With IN and OUT
I am looking for a relatively low cost "sound card" (internal or external) that is guaranteed to BOTH record and play back high frequency signals to at least 160KHz. Nowhere does it say these are going to be sound signals. That was a guess on the part of the poster. So here we are in the ...

Re: Guaranteed High Frequency Sound Card With IN and OUT
I'm betting we can do a much better job at this when we find out what the job is.

Re: Messed up a audio record - need help
I recorded a Meeting, but instead of internal sound I recorded via microphone Nobody easily records both sides of electronic meetings. Was this an effort to capture both your voice and the other people in the meeting? Many meeting companies offer recording as part of the service. Zoom and Skype bot...

Re: Recovering Old Audacity Files
The AUP file is a semi-English list of instructions of how Audacity should create your show from all the tiny sound files in the _DATA folder.
This is a Project.

Without both pieces, there is no show.

Re: Working with projects on a network file share is slow.
It gets worse. Your local/internal drive should be a Solid State Drive and not spinning metal. Spinning metal can be forced to work most times, but can create problems as it fills up or becomes fragmented or sloppy. Again, audio production is real-time, always-on. When you hit play, the machine has ...

Re: Working with projects on a network file share is slow.
Is it normal? Yes. Audacity hates Cloud Drives, too. External local drives are "iffy." Move your work to a local/internal drive and then do production. Audacity can't do real time audio production through network redirection, collision detection, and error management. Network drives may a...
