Re: Help - vocals problem
As you are recording voice, using one input (1 microphone) you will need to use a mono audio track for this purpose. And I would set that in the Focusrite driver? Does it "know" whether or not I have a guitar plugged into the other side at the same time? If I plug a single microphone in R...

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
This is how Charlie Rose does it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/CharlieRoseSpacing-650.jpg The "Famous Table" is not an accident. That's how the sound people keep the two performers apart. That and yes, limbo lighting is dramatic and something of a trademark for him, but the real poin...

Re: How to record a commentary & segments of a podcast toget
Home recording or production is not for the easily frightened. This is a sound clip I got from a group who did a splendid job studio recording a promotional campaign. Then they needed additional voice work and rather than go back into the studio, decided to record it at home. http://kozco.com/tech/a...

Re: How to record a commentary & segments of a podcast toget
I have a strong desire and interest to record a podcast of my own using my commentary over or in between the voice recording of others that are in their podcasts. Do you know any of those people? I've been juggling the best way to manage this job...and there isn't one. As I understand it, you want ...

Re: Help - vocals problem
The first dark cloud is the microphone. It's apparently a CM25 but that doesn't make any difference because it's impossible to buy the microphone without the rest of the studio package. Conspiracy Theory has it Scarlett re-purposed another makers microphone just to get a Studio Package out the door....

Re: Reset all settings?
I'm leery about recommending stereo interfaces for voice work, and I'm aware there is a stereo adapter in the ACX recommended list. ACX also recommends recording live to an external USB hard drive which is a terrible idea. Yes, Stereo adapters have good specifications, sometimes even marginally bett...

Re: Reset all settings?
Did everything used to work perfectly? I have a second channel available in my recording space You're hoping this is going to start working but it's a new setting? Usually shuffling between stereo and mono causes problems because what the system wants and what you want can be different and in weird ...

Re: Fixing distorted drums by speed change
Effect > Change Speed... http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/change_speed.html ... and Effect > Change Pitch. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/change_tempo.html Change Speed is pretty harmless. The reverse of that is probably what you did to compose the track. However, it's going to change both pit...

Re: Loss of leveller effect in 2.1.3
Leveler was going to be dropped but for the chorus of special effects editors who still wanted it—but not for leveling. Multiple passes through Leveler is perfect for creating the distorted Air Traffic Controller, Taxi Cab and 2-Way Radio voice. Normalize and Amplify are sisters and all they do is o...
