Re: Exporting to WMA Lossless
Windows Media - Audio is a compressed format. I believe it was one of the early MPEG4 programs. If I had to guess at it, Microsoft did that to avoid paying Fraunhofer the MP3 fees. As with MP3, I believe you can select high quality, but not uncompressed. There are reasons Flac and Wav isn't an optio...

Re: Analogue Turntable Issues
The instructions say the mixer takes over from the computer built-in soundcard when you plug the USB in. If that's your understanding, you need to do that first and then start Audacity. Audacity checks for connections when it starts. You can also Transport > Rescan. Apparently, there's driver softwa...

Re: how can i hard limit at -6dB?
Totally. The new Limiter effect is a lot fancier and better sounding than the old ones. The harder you make it and working up through limiter and clipper the more intense and stiffer the sound. I've been recommending the soft limiter for AudioBook readings along with some other custom software. It c...

Re: how can i hard limit at -6dB?
Audacity doesn't do anything while you record, so if you're looking for a recording limiter, you may have to look somewhere else.

What's the job? Sometimes we can get it that way. It's not useful when somebody posts with detail analysis of the tools...and nothing else.

Re: Help - vocals problem
Much more instructive are the near misses. Someone will post they didn't quite make noise and local analysis of the clip will give -57dB or some such number. That's happened several times, so I'm pretty confident about the tools. Also, you can occasionally get out of noise trouble with a high pass f...

Sorry, Z.
They don't in spite of multiple requests. However we use flat noise measurements and readers are successful. I expect more crash and burn failures if our weighing didn't match.

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
A friend of mine did a voice job on one of these in Biscayne Bay. He was on the floor of the boat with a shotgun pointing up at the performer.
Successfully.

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
All these tricks only work when the voices are separate during the exchange. If they like to interrupt and step on each other, that's the end of the world. Audacity cannot reliably separate instruments, voices and sounds in a mixed performance. This is another way to shoot these things. http://kozco...

Re: Help - vocals problem
A side note, last check, ACX Audiobook uses X weighing for noise, not A, so the background noises are more troublesome than it looks from the published specifications.a Scarlett 2i2 2nd Generation interface has a dynamic range of 106dB (A-weighted),
