Re: Track Editing - Background Noise and Volume

There is such a thing as having a track so bad the tools can't bring it back. Corrections are not open-ended. Sometimes audiobook readers run into this, their track is so bad they have to read it again. Select a ten second chunk of the noisy track before you do anything to it and post it here. http:...

Re: New install - can't get Audacity to record

But another very common request is to record YouTube or other on-line sound. That has a whole different set of rules.

Give us a push.

Also, a note. This forum has pretty snappy response compared to others, so don't take a week off.

Re: Editing & Splicing

Thast's one of the forum problems. We can't tell where you are until the second or third post. There is an on-line manual. http://manual.audacityteam.org/ And you can look up the effects and how to use them. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/index_of_effects_generators_and_analyzers.html http://man...

I'm not sure if this is enough information

Re: Editing & Splicing

That's a common error and another reason you want to be on a third, separate track. Struggling with volume management and overload problems while you edit is futile. What you should do on the separate third track is reduce the volume by 6dB to 10dB and do all the editing at that volume. Match the pr...

Re: Editing & Splicing

I don't think I've ever seen a "How To Edit." I don't think I would be patching one of the two tracks. I think I would be creating a new, third track and Copy-Paste into that. That way you can mark up both of the original tracks to keep account of where everything is. It also lets you make...

That's probably how you found my CR and LF characters. I can see ^M but nothing else.

Re: Aup. file won't open.

Or "Null" characters, depending on your text editor.
How are you seeing that? Neither TextEdit nor CAT will show me those.

I noticed the file was the wrong size.

Re: Aup. file won't open.

If you open the AUP file in a text editor (don't save anything) you see that it's blank.

Re: unclear/abnormal sound when recording and finish[SOLVED]

You're welcome.

Windows naturally thinks you want to make a conference or voice call and automatically runs environment suppression and echo cancellation. Those tools work by recognizing sustained sounds and tones and killing them. Most music is all sustained sounds and tones.
