Re: selecting section within track for editing

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_tracks.html

I was able to get a label track by clicking and then Control-B. Drag to the end point and then Control-B again. It prompted me to add text. That may have been a happy accident.

Re: selecting section within track for editing

That's an attempt to enable scrubbing—grab the cursor and play either direction at any speed.

You can still drag-select a portion by clicking in the blue waves.
I've added a label track
I'm not a label track user, so we need to wait for a more talented elf.

Re: "Audacity is already running" issue

Here it is. It's a lock file in your System.

Re: "Audacity is already running" issue

There's a file that gets set and turned into an orphan if the machine crashes or causes Audacity to fail. Any minute I'm going to find that file info.

Re: problem with gaining and volume

i hoped there's other way than scrolling 13 hours of audiobook. You should stop reading until you find what the problem is. You improved your computer so you can't read audiobooks any more. Do the volume changes follow the chapter breaks? If the bad changes move across each performance, then it's a...

Re: Cutting out part while keeping beat consistent

Vocal removal has some very serious rules. The show must be in good quality stereo and the vocal must be in the middle of the stereo field. Drums and bass usually vanish, too. It's good if the show wasn't in MP3. The only way to match beats.....is to match beats. Find a downbeat or the start of a rh...

Re: problem with gaining and volume

If you have a chapter that is too high or two low, select the chapter and Effect > Amplify. Change the top number (Amplification) to th...

Re: Plugin Conflicts and When to Compress

Every so often you say something a little off center. SetRMS is not "installed." SetRMS is raw Nyquist code/text you copy and paste in the Nyquist application window. Screen Shot 2017-05-31 at 6.13.32 PM.png I don't think you ever said which three-digit number Audacity you're using. RMS No...

Re: Plugin Conflicts and When to Compress

SetRMS is a different program, and that one can have problems. SetRMS is the proof of concept program written on a paper napkin with felt-tip pen. After it proved valuable, RMS Normalize was written to make it a real plugin with control panel, buttons and options. Chris's Dynamic Compressor It will...

Re: Export Question

That is a good one. The first graphic is of a sound clip in 100% distortion. I suspect if you turned on View > Show Clipping, the screen would light up solid red overload bars. It's not normal to have the dark blue waves live at 1.0 in a solid block of blue. I suspect if you played that piece, the A...
