Re: Syncing two tracks: methods, features and suggestions
Sorry for the length of the post! That's OK. Way better than a three-word complaint. As I read through that my mind flashed back to a friend of mine who does translation for the Court in Los Angeles. He does English/Spanish/English. Every so often, they'll get a "fresh" judge that doesn't...

Re: Larger Audio File is Smashed together - impossible to ed
Are we making this way too complicated? Do you just want to know how to zoom in? Let's see.... Windows. Zoom (Windows) -- Drag-select something on the timeline and zoom into it. Control-E -- Zoom out a little bit. Control-3 -- Zoom out full. Control-F -- Shift-ScrollWheel or Shift-TouchPadScrub will...

Re: Flatline on Exported MP3 file
There's a magic way to get that. There's a way to mis-wire a broadcast microphone that can cause the show to vanish if you convert from stereo to mono. Can you reproduce the error? Make a short recording exactly the same way you made this one and see what happens? If you really offended the sound de...

But, you're right. If the problem moves around, the show is probably OK.
If it's a laptop, disconnect everything and see if the built-in speakers work OK.

If you tried to correct it, post a sample before you did that. We can't take effects out and it messes up the analysis.
You should think about what you would do if we can't fix it.....

Re: Any way to automatically repair clipping?
If you're posting an MP3, you have the additional problem of MP3 processing messing up your volume. The AudioBook people have this problem. They pass technical conformance until they make the MP3. MP3 does not like sharp, abrupt transitions and spikes. Now that it's too late, never use MP3 as your s...

Re: Any way to automatically repair clipping?
I've found I can identify clipping fairly easily by using the Spectrogram view. Can you hear it? It's not unusual to get tiny vocal sounds in overload and you can't tell by listening. I would forget about it. Just reduce the overall volume with Effect > Amplify: Amplification -1dB > OK ...and the r...

Re: Using OS X Yosemite: Recording issues using Skype
Nobody wrote you need to record on Audacity. I've produced respectable voice recordings on an iPod. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/iPod-MicStand-500.jpg That's being obsessive. It works parked face-down on the desk, too. I have a tiny USB Memory Stick that happens to have a microphone in it. Tha...

Re: Using OS X Yosemite: Recording issues using Skype
Thanks for your advice and help! We haven't been much of either so far. I found the sound test I did with the two-computer setup. I'm in Los Angeles and Denise is somewhere in New Jersey. Four time zones. Her voice sounds slightly funny because all she did was open her tiny laptop, accept the conne...

Re: Possible bug auto record mode
Can Audacity still see the recording device or software? I assume you're recording on-line music or sound? Windows doesn't naturally like to do that, so some device or special process must be installed. How did you make that work at the beginning?
VoiceMeeter Banana app will do that.
