My Air has all of its features left running and it has stunning long battery life. I don't need to look for the Starbucks tables next to the wall outlets any more.
I haven't tried to record work on it yet........

Re: Graphic compare two sound events
One thing you could do is switch the timeline to Spectrogram View with the menu on the left. Capture the screen and then compare the capture to the live version of the second one. If the two sounds are in compressed format such as MP3, then they may already be different just from the MP3 compression...

Re: Silencing the quieter of two identical tracks?
Somebody had a picture of what that desk looks like and I need to find it again. Throw a moving blanket over the desk and pile anything solid between you. Leave just enough so you can see each other over top. Books is good. If you're handy, cut a piece of plywood (or even heavy cardboard) and throw ...

Re: Silencing the quieter of two identical tracks?
What's supposed to happen is you two record on opposite sides of a desk with elevated middle so direct sound is not likely to leak between the two. Then use good, directional microphones in "fist spacing" and do the whole thing in a echo free room with no outside noises. If you don't do th...
Re: Skipping
Audacity doesn't apply effects or filters in real time. The best we can do is reliably record what's provided by the machine. The Tascam doesn't seem to provide effects and signal processing..... It could be Sierra periodically forgetting to forward the sound to Audacity. Sierra has that nap thing i...

Re: synchronizing audio output of music files
You might find that Chris's Compressor can do a good job, too. Chris designed his volume manager so he could listen to opera in the car. He got tired of cranking the volume back and forth when the performance went between tutti orchestra and one lone violin in the south forty. https://theaudacitytop...

Re: Help identifying the cause of the "pop"
Still hoping Trebor chimes back in on the Spectogram. Did you flash the bat symbol? If I didn't seem as excited as I meant to be, I revised the graphic. See red dots. Your microphone is doing this pop thing all the time , it's just some of them are a lot louder than others. Crackle-Pops.png Koz

Re: Wont load my project..........PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
MY LAPTOP DIED ... NORMALLY IT RECOVERS THE PROJECT. It's scary when you suggest this happens all the time. Sooner or later you're going to hit a crash that's not going to recover. This may be that time. Sometimes, Audacity can recover an abandoned _DATA folder (no good AUP file) if it was made of ...

There is a dedicated tool for sibilant suppression, too.
Are you using all those tools for specific goals, or are you following a pre-baked recipe?
