Re: unable to record on audacity
Which three number Audacity do you have? We need you to describe the show. Windows 10 has a whole list of things that can go wrong depending on what you're trying to record. Do you have a separate microphone not in the computer? Which one? Is the computer a laptop? Are you a voice performer audition...

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
Glad I could help. I'm waiting for The Delivery People to give me a microphone accessory and I will be reshooting a "home studio example," with a MacBook Pro and the sound pieces you should have for a basic studio. The ACX training video went straight for the store-bought sound booth and w...

Got it.

Odd. She calls it "PVC Pipe." I wonder why it didn't show up on a forum search. I got it through a painful, round-the-barn search.
She used duvets, not furniture moving pads. So that's why that didn't work.

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
Well, shucks. I can't find the poster who made a studio out of hardware store plastic pipes.
Still looking.

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
Found another one. The assembly can be a little floppy (not designed for outdoors) so you can use one of the sticks as a cross-brace. SoundStudio-Bracing.jpg The company moved into a much larger building with a soundproofed conference room, so I didn't need the moving pads so much. That's how I shot...

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
The original photos are dated October 2009, so the folding studio concept is 8 years old.

Re: How to isolate voice in a 2-mic setup
I will not credit you with coming up with this idea Why not? I designed the original one many years ago when I had to record voice tracks and all I had was a quiet "live" room, borrowed from another division of the company. So whatever I did had to go from a pile of stuff to a sound booth...

Re: ACX Mastering levels
Excessive noise reduction can create nasty problems. Besides the 'blackness of space' thing, it can give your voice a bad cellphone, talking-in-a-wineglass sound (ACX failure), and on some microphones, it can make you sound harsh, sharp, peaky and gritty. You can fix that with the sibilance tools, b...

Q. What countries observe July 4th? A. All of them. The US celebrates Independence Day. Do you have WAV Export copies of your raw, unprocessed readings? You need to do that. File > Export WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit (stereo or mono). We can't take processing out of a reading and Audacity Projects do not ...

Re: Recording from digital piano ?
Windows laptops naturally assume you're a busy executive wanting to join a corporate conference call with the other members of the executive committee in Lucerne. I'm almost joking. In order to make that process work out perfectly, it automatically applies environment suppression and noise processin...
