Re: Editing question

Right. There are two maximums. No peak louder than -3dB and noise no louder than -60dB. Performance loudness is a range.

It's super common for home recordings to only make two of the three. The killer problem is usually noise. That long second post only addresses the prominent problems.

Re: Help with mic interference in audio

I think the recording is trash. Noise Reduction works on constant background noises, the operative word is "background." The major sound in the supplied clip is the buzzing sound, not the dialog. Also as a minor point, Noise Reduction needs a segment of noise with no dialog as a Profile or...

Re: Noob Alvin appearance

I just installed Audacity expecting to capture cassette input into USB.
You just installed Audacity 2.0.3? The current Audacity version is 2.1.3.

Re: Where are the Recorded Files stored ?

Audacity is a post production editor. It always records perfect with the idea you are going to add effects, corrections and processing to the recorded show later, after you get done performing.

Audacity doesn't do anything but simple record while you're performing.

Re: Where are the Recorded Files stored ?

If you get the blue waves but don't either Export or Save, the show will be lost when you close Audacity.

Re: Where are the Recorded Files stored ?

The basic process is to record a performance which Audacity stores as blue waves on the timeline. Screen Shot 2017-07-10 at 6.03.44 PM.png Then you either File > Export a sound file, or File > Save an Audacity Project. Either Export or Save will ask you where you want it to put the files. I use the ...

Re: Audacity doesn't see my mic. Help?

It's sometimes good to split the system in half and see if each half works. Do you have the "6 - 0 - 20" lights on the mixer right-hand side flash when you play? Screen Shot 2017-07-10 at 5.51.40 PM.png Also, the mixer has a place to plug headphones "PHONES." Does that work? Koz

making sure that you do not have any sound effects activated during playback
Totally.

I once got a machine to evaluate that had "Cathedral Effects" running by accident. It failed every sound test "for some reason."

Re: Audacity Glitching - stops and starts recording - HELP!

Have you disabled Apple App Nap for Audacity and tried AntiPop? OK, that's scary. Audio to Buffer" in increments of 10 milliseconds until recording is smooth. Is there are definitive test for that? Like if you make it past xxx minutes, you're probably OK? Using sampling theory, shouldn't you w...

Re: Editing question

Also note in that mastering post, it says "technical compliance." All this is going to do is get you past the robot that inspects for volume, noise, etc. If you can't read, you're still going to fail ACX. Your reading will crash during Human Quality Control. The human could also bounce you...
