Re: Audacity plays differently than headphones.
Sometimes Windows will try to apply effects to live recordings without telling you. One of the tools is hum suppression. It could see your bass notes as electrical interference and try to turn it down. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements Make sure Windo...

Re: Behringer UMC202HD
I don't remember this mentioned yet, but once you close Audacity, we can't take effects out. Even Audacity Projects do not have UNDO. Audacity's goal is to record flat and clean, save a safety copy, and only then apply effects, corrections, changes and post production. That's from the idea that once...

Re: Floor microphone stand or desk arm stand?
Turns out to be a 3L bottle. CloroxMicStand-500w.jpg Please note you can't do this trick with an arm-style desk stand. You're stuck with whatever the springs in the arm can handle. There's other tricks as well. When I use it, the stand is by my left elbow—not across the desk—and the microphone is ju...

Re: Burn it off, Hose it down.
Mac hides it somewhat Yes, it used to be a regular, up-front searchable part of the Mac environment, but someone (probably rightly) found it was causing more problems than was worth the visibility. You can get there with the Terminal/Command-Line as well, if your tastes go that way. Last login: Thu...

Re: Tube Phono Preamplifier Measurement Methods
I'm curious what you plugged into the preamp. Is there an actual cartridge plugged in? Did you connect the thin, black ground wire from the turntable? It's there to suppress 60Hz hum...like the hum you have.

Re: Tube Phono Preamplifier Measurement Methods
I think that's a little ambitious. Every measurement is going to be a combination of the responses, noise and overload characteristics of every analog device in the channel. I'm a little foggy what you're going to share with others. "I use this preamp and my noise is this?" How many preamp...

Re: Audacity can't see data folder
Is this a good place to urge strongly work on the Project Unitary File System?
How many shows need to go into the can before a change to the Project format becomes important? I'm looking for a number, not a philosophy.

Re: How Can I separate two recordings that mixed
You didn't say what kind of sound file you had, but perfect quality WAV is recommended. Never do production in MP3!

Re: How Can I separate two recordings that mixed
Too many problems. I think it's gone. project file That's dangerous. Audacity Projects are multiple files and folders...so far. You made the exact opposite mistake from normal. Most people save a Project and not a WAV and then we have trouble rescuing their show when one of the Project files goes so...

Re: Floor microphone stand or desk arm stand?
There is a Yeti-Pro which doesn't have USB whine sound but it's not a beginner microphone and it's not cheap. Describe your show. You should stop building your studio until you discuss two points: Will you ever have one or more live human guests, will you want to interview somebody over Skype or Cha...
