Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds
Do a recording where you perform normally and just watch the volume increase for 30 seconds. Stop. File > Export > MP3: 128 quality. The file should be under 2MB and allow you to post it on the forum. Scroll down from a forum text window > Upload Attachment > Browse. Normally we would insist on a pe...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
I did go back and reset the "Draw" setting to a -120. Are you using Low rolloff for speech or the older LF rolloff for speech ? I then used your recommended process using the low roll off in draw mode and it still stayed within specs but my NF raised by 8.9dbs. Which is odd because Low Ro...

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds
Audacity gets its sound from the machine, not the device, and Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters and corrections during recording. The two places to check and set system sound are Apple > System Preferences > Sound and Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. Make sure your microphone and earphone ar...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
If you start the process with graphic and then run the Low Rolloff curve, it will give you the restricted effect. Please note the Select Curve window doesn't say Low Rolloff. It knows what you have isn't the right curve. If you then switch to Draw, it will actually get worse. While in Draw, run Low ...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
Low Rolloff I tried them both and there was o difference. That hasn't been my experience. In the draw mode, Low Rolloff is still reducing rumble at -70dB. The last step in the Nyquist code is -120dB at 50Hz. In Graphic, it peters out at -20dB, the natural range of the sliders. Do you know of a way t...

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds
the recording level rises out of control. Rises to somewhere? Or does it just keep increasing and sounding more and more crushed and buzzy? It is possible to throw a Mac into feedback. I, myself did that with these fingers last week. Depending on the volume settings, you could get just about what y...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
Normalize > Remove DC doesn't affect the sound. It's an arithmetic calculation that averages all the top and bottom waves. In shows with DC problems, that number is profoundly out of whack. The tool puts everything back into whack. We had the discussion of the best way to do this including fancy hi...

Re: I think I might have a software problem.
I updated my old Audacity to the latest 2.1.3 version. What were you using? If there's too big a jump, you can get in trouble by trying to use the tools in the old method. In Audacity 2.1.3, you can open each one of the sound files one above the other and then Tracks > Align Tracks > Align End To E...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
@Mack Caster Is there any reason you're using the Equalization tool in Graphic instead of Draw? Graphic restricts the range of Low Rolloff and can let some rumble pass by accident. Screen Shot 2017-07-29 at 14.33.19.png Also, I know people who edit the blue waves in dB, but I prefer regular waveform...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
The suite only has three steps and the last two are custom RMS-Normalize and standard Audacity Limiter. There is no second Normalize. ACX Check looks for the most quiet half-second in the performance and measures that for Noise. You can really mess with it if you never stop talking long enough (read...
