Something is wacky. Attached.
Mack Caster is also getting odd results from the correction suite.
Here, it's three steps and we're done.
I need to drop for a minute.

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
I got nothing. The broadcast transmitter and its processing is a wonderful thing. you can drive around the city for a week and even change stations without touching the volume control. I enjoy one radio show both broadcast and podcast. The broadcast show is perfectly level. The podcast is almost unl...

Re: Installation of Audacity
You're not complaining that the music goes at the wrong speed, right? You're complaining about sluggish performance? You push a button and it takes forever to do something. I want Audacity on User Account to be the only one accessible. Is this a company machine and the users have accounts on network...

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
I wonder if I can put something to monitor the volume before the signal gets to Audacity. Sure. I use a small sound mixer. That's it on the left, behind the white headphones. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JMASoundShoot-650.jpg Even the smaller mixers have some sound metering, although as y...

Re: Workflow for correcting audio recorded unevenly
This is the exact place you post the DropBox address of the work so we can tell what we're up against. There's a couple of fuzzy rules. We can't take out echoes. So all that room resonance, deep bounce and bathroom sound is forever. If you can't clearly make out words or the spaces between the words...

Here's our noise gate. Forum Steve wrote it.

It's extra software and has to be installed.

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections during recording. In post we can totally help. Chris's Compressor was intentionally designed to even out production variations in volume. He made it so he could listen to opera in the car. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compress...

Re: Am I Doing This Right?
I use a different plugin for this. What plugin might that be? The chapter passes technical conformance here perfectly well. So now you're into theater. Yes, some of the pauses are a little long and trip up the rhythm of the reading. On second listening, those are fluffs, to be corrected later. I do...
